We ate in the Outgate Inn on a couple occasions. They have special nights and on Pie Night I had the chicken & leek pie which was packed with chicken and was really tasty. It was served with mushy peas which was a bit weird ( it's a northern thing apparently) I must confess to ordering a steak and ale... More

Smashing grub, would recommend the burger or home made steak pie. Breakfast was a home run and coffee to die for.. The service was professional with good personality... Setting was gorgeous.. Accommodation clean and tidy, good value for money paid.. Be back again...

Good food, nicely presented, friendly staff all made for a great meal out! Arrived to a nice welcome and although busy with lots of tables reserved were directed to a table for four. Good selection of starters, mains and puds! Decor a bit tired but food and service great!

We called in for a late lunch and the place was quiet but more people called in later. The food was allright and I enjoyed my tasty fish finger sandwich. There was Prosecco by the glass on offer which I didn't have but no tomato juice, which I had wanted. There was a coffee machine behind the bar if we... More

Room basic but clean, friendly staff, good food, lovely location, would visit again :) Even though this pub is in the middle of nowhere it gets very busy obviously a popular place for visitors and locals.

Stayed for 3 nights. Room basic but clean and well equipped. Owners friendly, welcoming and helpful. Advised on local walking routes. Food excellent. Full cooked breakfast perfect every time. Would stay again.

We stayed two nights with a living social voucher. A couple of hitches on arrival no bath towels and TV didn't work. Staff and owner resolved both efficiently and quickly. Room and pub overall are old and a bit tired and in need of spruce up, especially the bathrooms. We found our bed really comfy and very large so slept... More

We have been here once before and same great pub food and service. They are a pub selling good honest food. I had the steak pie and it was great. My wife had the fish and chips and the haggis starter was good as well. Definitely be back soon. A good selection of desserts with local ice cream. The Creme... More

We stopped here for a beer after a long walk in the fells on a sunny and warm day. The beer was excellent and the beer garden at the back of the pub was a pleasant place to sit. In fact the beer was so good that rather than "a beer" it became two!

Good parking, food and staff. Despite the good things about the inn, our stay was marred by the most uncomfortable bed we have ever experienced. When we told staff about the mattress we were told that it had recently been replaced and that it was Robinson's (the brewery and presumably owner) fault! For this sole reason we will not be...
