The hotel at which our friends were staying was fully booked and after checking around booking into the Lancrigg Hotel was Hobson's choice! Our room was the Easedale on the ground floor. It was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was not over-large but there was a Jacuzzi bath - which I used and it was theraputic after a long... More

Have stayed at lancrigg many times, including earlier in the year, prior to its sale. Naturally some changes have been made, some +ve e.g. new tables and chairs, some decorating. But food is not as good as it used to be. Generally food is not very hot, a bit overcooked and salty. A staple of the b'fast menu had been an unusual 'burger'... More

Nice hotel in a lovely location just a short stroll from Grasmere. Room was very big with a separate sitting area but some of the furnishings were starting to look a bit tired. We stayed for one night on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The food was very good also for us non-vegetarians.

This was an anniversary celebration and with Lancrigg's reputation as a top vegetarian hotel, we were expecting something very special. Sadly, our evening meal was anything but special, with the main course bordering on inedible....grossly over-cooked vegetables of almost a puree consistency. Starters and puddings were ok but nothing to be excited about.... My cooked breakfast was served at a... More

On arrival we were pleased to find that the room was available almost 2 hours before the allotted time of 3pm. This made settling in much easier. We enjoyed a nice lunch and were welcomed by pleasant and friendly staff. The room (Wordsworth) was basic but clean and comfortable - on booking we were told that the room had been... More

Having completed a lovely circular walk from the centre of Grasmere through the Easedale fells and the beautiful gardens and woodlands of the Lancrigg estate, we decided to stop off at the Lancrigg Hotel for tea and cake. This hotel has an old charm appeal and is full of character. There is a warm and friendly feel about this hotel... More

Hotel with character and charm. Large bedroom with roll top bath. Lovely views over the garden and valley. Interesting vegetarian menu with lots of choice - didn't have room for dessert sadly. Excellent base for walking Easedale Tarn and Grasmere and Rydal. Returned for lunch after a mornings walk in pouring rain to a warm welcome and delicious sandwich

We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel with the advantage of an on site vegetarian restaurant. The food was good and the service friendly and efficient. Like many hotels in the lakes, the building has seen better days, so wouldn't deduct a star for that, and some may say it's part of the charm. My only quibble would be the... More

This review is just for the hotel. I have reviewed the hotel restaurant separately. This hotel is in a building partly built in the late 1600s and partly built in the early 1800s. It looks it. Our room was extremely spacious but very "uniquely" laid out. It was necessary to continue to duck (I am 6'2") at all times walking... More

My wife, two 5 year old sons, and I, have just returned from 6 lovely days in the Lakes. We stayed at the wonderful Lancrigg Hotel in it's gorgeous location. We booked very last minute, but the extremely helpful and patient Jessica took the booking, and described the room, it's view, and where/how the kids beds would be added. What... More
