We just stayed the one night, but found the place to be delightful. The attention to detail was second to none and. Simon and Glynis who are the hands on owners made our time with them, something special and I would advise anybody who is going to stay there that they must not miss the dining experience. Evening meal and... More

Booked via Booking.com for 1 night b&b but decided to treat ourselves to dinner following an e-mail from the hotel offering a discounted rate for evening meal. Wow this was well worth the money, every course served was exceptional and the beef and duck we had for main course cooked to how we preferred. The hotel has a small car... More

I stayed here while doing the Coast to Coast. The hotel is good with great helpful staff. The room was well equipped and nice and quiet. The restaurant really was excellent - chef went out of his way to make a great veggie menu for me. I would stay again if visiting Grasmere.

OK so I have posted lots of reviews for this hotel but it is in Tina Turner's words "simply the best"! We are discerning, we do appreciate good service and more especially good value. It is very difficult to find a beautiful village, excellent walking on the doorstep and confidence that visit on visit the standard is excellent - this... More

The family who run the Oak Bank could not be nicer or more helpful. Because of a family emergency we had to change our reservation twice. They were very accommodating and even worked it out with Booking.com on our behalf. Once we got there we had a great time. The place is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious and... staff friendly, room was clean and had everything I needed. The breakfast was the best I've had in either a hotel or B&B. Would def stay again and would recommend to friends and family. Liked the little extras such as fresh milk in a flask, much better than carton milk.

Food was excellent and the majority of the staff ( especially the daughter of the owner )were friendly and accommodating. We found the owner to be unwelcoming. On the first night our children accidentally pulled part of the curtains from the rods when they attempted to close them. The owner reacted angrily and confronted my wife claiming they were ruined... We are glad they found the food excellent and the majority of the staff friendly and accommodating, especially my daughter, I brought her up well then, but clearly from their impression she doesn’t take after me!!! Review written by the husband, conversation was with his wife, husband wasn’t present. There was no angry reaction or confrontation either, that simply is... More

We just stayed the one night to break the journey back to Glasgow. Parking was outside the front door, tight but key left with reception and worked well. Room was comfortable with tea coffee etc and bottled water. Dinner was very good, with a reasonably priced wine list, and cooked breakfast just as you would expect, with plenty of coffee... More

What a welcoming place - we loved every minute of our stay. Our room was cosy and comfortable, with the added bonus of a large balcony overlooking the garden. There were many hospitable touches in the room - a little decanter of sherry, real milk in a flask, home made shortbreads each day, coffee that actually tasted of coffee etc.... More

A warm welcome, comfortable room, and great food...will definatley be back. Unfortunately, this was a wet weekend,so would have just loved the sun streaming in to the room..ah well, can't win em all lol..The hotel is in a great location for getting out and about,Even if you can't manage the big hills any more, there are several walks around Grasmere to keep you interested.
