Went for a meal on a very busy Saturday night. Great service at the bar, found a table and waited 45mins for food which wasn't a problem. The barman said it could be up to an hour for food and told us beforehand. Good beer and the food was a cut above the standard pub grub. All in all a...

Stayed at the Caravan And Motor home Site approx 2 miles away and had a very soggy walk to this oasis. Great choice of locally brewed beers, so so friendly staff and smashing food. Great place to hide away for an hour or two on a rainy Lakeland day!

We decided to spend a weekend in Coniston, following a walk around the village we visited the Black Bull for lunch and a drink, the food was very very nice, and i can certainly recommend the half duck with fresh vegetables and cheesy potatoes. There is a vast range of real ales and lagers which I believe some are produced...

Many other reviews will tell you about the pleasing non-resident features, with which I concur. My disappointment was with the overnight accommodation facilities. The room's en-suite bathroom looked and felt as though it hadn't received a makeover since the 1970s. Bath, no shower. Wash basin with mirror above, no shelf or light source: nothing on which to place a toilet...

Hubby and I had a lovely relaxing meal this evening .. we weren't looking for any thing special just a cosy atmosphere , peace and good food , it gave us just that no wow factors but certainly a very joyful evening . We will return most definitely.

We had a gorgeous walk over Coniston Coppermines and finished off with a delicious pub lunch at the Black Bull. Servings were hearty, prices reasonable, staff helpful and friendly. Good choice of veggie options including a really tasty lasagne. Recommend the bluebird ale.

Nice clean room, dog friendly, lovely big shower. Breakfast was fab. No complaints what so ever. Greatest location, really laid back chilled out with great staff and clientele in pub. Fantastic! I would definitely stay here again.

We really love staying at the bull and have done a few times over many years. We booked on booking.com apparently the last room, a twin room with patio doors out on to the river. When we arrived we were taken upstairs in the main pub to room 5, a double room. This was very disappointing when the staff member...

Spent one night here in this traditional British pub. The beer selection is excellent especially the Bluebird bitter and the XB from their own microbrewery. Good range of gin's too which the bar staff were happy to advise on. Had our evening meal in the bar area which was good pub fare, both the sirloin steak and the gammon can...

Boyfriend and his family regularly stop here, can see why, great food, still got all original features and a huge pub! Didn't get to sample the brewery ales as it was lunchtime and had driving to do! Staff could do with a smile and a hello though.
