Lovely hotel with excellent views over Coniston. Only a short walk into Village Food excellent, we dined in both nights we stayed. Would suggest if mobility a problem to ask for a room on the first floor as there is a lift to it.

Stayed here for a weekend, I'm not sure the staff (although friendly) could cope with a full hotel? The meals especially breakfasts too a little too long to get out, I nearly offered to roll up my sleeves and help. The bar was limited in choice, the bedrooms nice and roomy, hot if you wanted them hot but radiators do...

Stayed one night for a little break. The hotel is in an idyllic tranquil setting right on the edge of the lake. On a warm sunny day it would be so beautiful. Even though it was mainly dull the setting is stunning. We only had a standard room as we had secured an offer but it was fine - clean,...

Beautiful location and good food, but attention to detail lacking. Some staff really didn't appear to have any idea about customer service, room was the very disappointing (avoid room 11 at all costs), very noisy about kitchen with very high small window, dark, no view, bathroom not particularly clean. To be honest, felt it was a real shame... such a...

Visited under the Travelzoo deal. Location excellent. Being able to walk through the grounds down to the waters edge was a bonus. Room comfortable with a huge ensuit. Food really good with plenty of choice. Breakfast little slow, but everything cooked freshly to order. Was worth the wait. Staff attentive and approachable. If back in the area would stay there...

I attended my sister's wedding here this weekend. The hotel has in the most beautiful location and the weather a perfect backdrop, The inside was a little dated and our room in particular had a door so stiff we had to shoulder barge it to gain access (No 21), There was plenty of toiletries and refreshments. It was a bit...

Spent a reunion weekend with a group of friends; the original hotel we booked was closed so we managed to book here at last minute. Our room facing the lake was very spacious and modern without loosing the character of a Lake District hotel. Fantastic views of the lake and the Coniston mountains from the hotel and bedrooms. Ground floor...

We visited for Sunday lunch. There was a good choice of 5 or 6 main courses. Children can order a half portion. The dining room had a lovely view and was nicely decorated and the staff were friendly and very helpful. It was a quiet lunchtime so the service was unsurprisingly very good. We will certainly return when we are...

A party of us were on our annual weekend away with our car club Staying at the Waterhead Hotel, which we have on several occasions. Our party consisted mainly of couples and we took every room in the place. The staff were fantastic and could not do enough for us. The food in the restaurant was much improved from our last...
