What a fantastic find! I stayed for five nights and got more settled every day. Stayed in the 'Hideaway' and couldn't have asked for a better room. Great veggie breakfast provided (which I'm sure got a little bigger every day) ;0) and set me up nicely for my wanderings in the lakes . The owners, Sandy and Stuart, made me...

Found a little gem here, hosts Sandy and Stuart were lovely, very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our chats in the morning with them and in their bar at night. We felt at home straight away. The room was very comfortable, had lovely views. Enjoyed our breakfast, lots of choice and well cooked. Perfect base to get around the lakes. Although...

My Wife and I stayed for only 2 days at the Wheelgate B&B and was meet by Sandy on arrival. We were shown in through the front of the property into the lounge area. In here was an open fire, a well serviced "Honesty Bar", drying room ample soft seating and breakfast area. We were then shown to our room...

We arrived early the b&b but we were able to leave the car and go off for a walk. It takes about 30-40 minutes to walk into coniston and you can do this along a path by the lake, stunning. We had a warm greeting when we got back and shown to our room, we had the buttermere room which...

It takes a bit of getting used to, but it grows on you. If you don’t like creaking floorboards, low doorways, floors with more waves than a windy day on the Lake, then maybe it’s not for you. But with a 450 year history, spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation, workable Wifi, great location just far enough from the bustle of...

We have just returned from a week's stay in this delightful cottage, part of the Wheelgate B&B in Coniston. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable and the upside down setting worked well for us and our dog. From the upstairs sitting area there was access to a small verandah and garden which proved most useful especially as we...

Booked for 3 days but asked on the 2nd day if we could cut short our stay by one night. we were told that would be OK. We would have stayed the 3 nights had we been told that it wasn't OK, so there wouldn't have been any issue. .Because we thought this was OK we packed everything away,, had...

Wonderful property. With the character of building's history on display. The Hideaway. An amazing, out of the way, ensuite room. With plenty of space to relax in. Breakfast sets you up for the day. Plenty of choice and no limits. Stuart & Sandy are excellent hosts. The location is quiet and away from the usual tourist hotspots. Good walks to...
