A functional and acceptable hostel providing all the neccessary basics. Could do with a bit of a spring clean, cob webs in the dormitory. Showers run fluctuating water temperatures. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Like the feel of the traditional old cottage type nature of the hostel.

A small, traditional hostel at the end of a long track nestled in the hills. If your satnav stops you at the cattle grid keep faith and drive up the track. You will spot the white cottage at the top. Very friendly staff. We enjoyed good vegan food - especially likes the tagine for supper. Rooms clean and warm. Big...

We had 3 nights here with breakfast and dinner. We had the benefit of a private room that would have slept four but essentially we were in single beds. The welcome was warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The food was good and substantial with vegetarian options as required. We found the showers and...

Had a great last-minute stay here. Beautiful location up in the hills, very friendly staff, great facilities considering the remote location. Clean, tidy, friendly and nice communal areas. I didn't try the food on offer, so can't comment on that. Highly recommended for a peaceful get-away.

A lovely semi-remote hostel with friendly and helpful staff. The food was good and self-catering facilities are provided. The hostel is small so boring well in advance for private rooms is necessary. We ended up in dormitories.

We had a fabulous stay at the Coppermines. Location allowed us to walk for the door but was close enough to other activities. The hostel is well managed and the staff are friendly and made sure that we had a great stay. Food was delicious and home cooked and we were allowed to be flexible with the timing of meals...

Ran a team development week from here for a small business group early June 2016. Very calming & friendly place. Staff extremely friendly & welcoming, looked after us well all week. Deffo recommend the place, easy access to the mountains and its more remote location is great for getting away from it all. Thanks guys for a fab week.

I stayed for a week at the Coppermines YHA in June 2016. I was attending an activity week with a group of colleagues. The hostel has everything you could wish for, with a comfortable lounge, well equipped self catering kitchen, drying room, spacious bedrooms, hot showers and stunning views. The hostels location is well suited for those wanting a base...

I stayed here for a week in June 2016 on a business trip with 11 other people. We were immediately welcomed into the hostel by warm and friendly staff. The rooms were great, all ready and made up, we had a sink in ours with a mirror and plenty of charging places. The heating worked really well as most nights...

Perfect for mountain lovers looking for great climbing holidays. Beautifully located, this hostel offers a 500ft head start on the ascent of the Old Man of Coniston. There are many other walks and splendid views to enjoy from this rural retreat. A great base for outdoor activity breaks and walking holidays.
