Had a great last-minute stay here. Beautiful location up in the hills, very friendly staff, great facilities considering the remote location. Clean, tidy, friendly and nice communal areas. I didn't try the food on offer, so can't comment on that. Highly recommended for a peaceful get-away.

A lovely semi-remote hostel with friendly and helpful staff. The food was good and self-catering facilities are provided. The hostel is small so boring well in advance for private rooms is necessary. We ended up in dormitories.

We had a fabulous stay at the Coppermines. Location allowed us to walk for the door but was close enough to other activities. The hostel is well managed and the staff are friendly and made sure that we had a great stay. Food was delicious and home cooked and we were allowed to be flexible with the timing of meals... More

Ran a team development week from here for a small business group early June 2016. Very calming & friendly place. Staff extremely friendly & welcoming, looked after us well all week. Deffo recommend the place, easy access to the mountains and its more remote location is great for getting away from it all. Thanks guys for a fab week.

I stayed for a week at the Coppermines YHA in June 2016. I was attending an activity week with a group of colleagues. The hostel has everything you could wish for, with a comfortable lounge, well equipped self catering kitchen, drying room, spacious bedrooms, hot showers and stunning views. The hostels location is well suited for those wanting a base... More

I stayed here for a week in June 2016 on a business trip with 11 other people. We were immediately welcomed into the hostel by warm and friendly staff. The rooms were great, all ready and made up, we had a sink in ours with a mirror and plenty of charging places. The heating worked really well as most nights... More

This brilliant hostel located in a amazing countryside run by a friendly helpful couple. Nice and clean. Self catering or buying their inexpensive quality coked three course meal either there is no better place to dine. Over the past 45 years of travelling have stayed at many locations and this is in the top five.

Fantastic staff, great location. Facilities are basic as you'd expect, but the showers are hot, toilets are clean, beds were comfy, and kitchen had everything you'd need - all in all perfect and then they had a bar!! Things couldn't get any better.

One of the best hostels... I would say. The location is great if you want to scale some the near by peaks or if you are looking to spend some time away from technology and crowd. It offers spectacular views... especially during sunrise and sunset. Drive on the last stretch of road (1.5 miles) from Coniston to the youth hostel... More

This is one of the top 5 YHAs in the Lakes in our opinion as it is remote, great views, quiet and small. The stars at night are mind blowing. The only down side is no twin rooms. Great food, cosy lounge with a real fire but it is far too small for all guests to sit in Some people... More

There are many other walks and splendid views to enjoy from this rural retreat. A great base for outdoor activity breaks and walking holidays.
