Great for a budget stay in the Lakes, good food and friendly staff. I was in a room of six which was clean and comfortable. A short walk from central Coniston. If your used to hostel life I recommend this one.

I haven't frequently stayed at YHA for over 30 years and chose to stay here for a quick trip to the Lakes. Weekday prices for YHA members is unbeatable at £10 (£7 for Members). Holly How is half a mile from Coniston center and is well positioned for a number of walks. You stay in a shared room of 8... More

We camped here for three nights over August Bank Holiday weekend. The hostel is very well situated in quiet countryside, ten minutes walk from Coniston village centre which is amply supplied with good pubs and restaurants. The hostel is very comfortable with large lounge and dining areas and they provide evening meals and breakfasts if you want them. There is... More

Arrived last minute due to some unfortunate weather flooding us out of camping near by. The chap who greeted us was amazing. Got us booked in and set up and was a fantastic antidote to two stressed out and weary campers. Currently lying on a very comfortable bunk, warm, dry, and happy 😊 So the review: Reception... Amazing. The guy... More

Brought the granddaughters aged 10 and 6 up from Oxfordshire to the Lakes for the first time and thought we'd give them the whole experience with a nights stay in a traditional youth hostel. We checked into the hostel early evening, the staff on arrival were friendly, welcoming and informative. We were directed to our four bed family room and... More

Spent three nights here over a long wekeend in July. Very efficient check-in with friendly stafff. Clean, tidy, friendly and nice communal areas. I didn't try the food on offer, so can't comment on that. Highly recommended for a peaceful get-away.

Thought we would take our 1yr old for her first camping trip. The YHA seemed like a good idea because we could cheat and use the hostel facilities. The hostel and staff were great, but the youths drinking, shouting and swearing around a campfire all night were not. I suspect that allowing fires encourages this behaviour. Looks like we need... Thank you very much for your feedback, at the YHA we take all feedback very seriously. I was very concerned to hear about your recent experience. We do have a very strict policy on noise and insist on no noise from 11pm to 7am. Whilst we do keep an eye on our campsite we do not patrol this area beyond... More

The hostel is in a great location to do walks straight out the front door. My husband and I camped and very much appreciated the use of the kitchen, lounge and charging facilities that would not normally be available whilst camping. We camped at the front of the hostel where space was limited due to the 2 large tepees that... More

A warm welcome from the staff. Comfortable room. Fiona made an excellent hostel provided dinner which was also commended on by four other diners. I know where to stop next time in Coniston ! Equally good breakfast, good value & plentiful making an excellent start to the day !

Room was very basic but clean and warm. Towels and breakfast at extra cost. Too expensive for this type of accommodation even in the lake district. Staff are friendly and helpful. Reception opening hours too short even for a hostel.
