Booked this hotel after finding ones in the lakes very expensive and thought this would be a good base and that it was. We got held up and were running late and got a lovely call from Kane at the hotel to make sure everything was ok. On arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by Kane and Carol Ann... More

Me and the wife stayed here last week and it was just as expected. We got a great welcome from a Scottish lady who was genuinely just a nice person and chatted to us about the hotel and location. Our room was fab, overlooking the car park with 2 large chairs and a comfy bed. The think I liked about... More

A lovely, elegant, old fashioned hotel in a very convenient location almost opposite Wordsworth House. Nicely furnished room which was also very quiet and a comfortable bed. There was a bath as well as shower which we appreciated after a long walk but no fan so the ensuite bathroom got very steamy, though did have a window which was difficult... More

Really a nice hotel, with tremendously generous and accommodating staff and management. My trip didn't go quite as I had planned, and they went out of their way to do what they could to make it as smooth as possible. The rooms are pretty small, but nicely appointed and maintained. The beds were acceptable, as were the linens and furnishings.... More

We stayed for 2 nights in a comfortable double room. The hotel staff provided a friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was superb, with a large selection of items on the buffet as well as delicious, home cooked local produce.

We stayed here for two nights to attend the Wedding of the daughter of lifelong friends. The Hotel was easy to locate, and in a lovely building of historical importance. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean and all the staff and the owner were most accommodating and prepared to go the extra mile. We had the most delicious and well presented... More

Stayed two nights in room four that is spacious with room for two comfortable chairs which is unusual in other hotels. The room had a clean and well fitted shower room, there is also a view over the front of the building. Some may call the decor in the hotel "old fashioned" but it is new and not old and... More

Been here several times over the last ten years, once again it was brilliant. Cockermouth is a lovely place to stay and a bit less chocolate box than Keswick. Cockermouth has a real feel but has suffered badly with repeated flooding. The Manor House is a lovely constant in the town, a fantastic building with great features and architecture. What... More
