I stayed here whilst working away. On arrival I was warmly welcomed and shown to my room. The room was very comfortable and well decorated. A lot of time and effort had been put into it which really showed. The bar had a lovely atmosphere with live music and the staff were really friendly. To be fair it was the... More

Contrary to some other recent reviews, we thought Cockermouth was a great base for visiting northern lakes and the coast and also in its own right, a renaissance town after the floods, with good places to eat, the excellent Wordsworth House, and a great bookshop. The same might be said of the Wordsworth Hotel, which, as long as you accept... More

We almost had to stay in this hotel, as Booking.com suggested no availability almost in the entire surrounding (i.e. Lake District) area ... and we wanted to stay another night in the area! We booked via a smartphone in the nearby Seth's bar and headed round ... on arrival, we had to go through the pub which forms part of... More

Stayed here for one night while working in the area. It's not great and definitely overpriced - the £25 quoted on the board outside the hotel would be fair. The check-in experience is idiosyncratic. Entering the Hotel from the street, you are greeted with a bare and bleak bar room. The large flat screen tv illuminates the afternoon drinkers. Loud... More

The hotel was run by four sisters and our first communication was with Caroline. She greeted us in a very warm manner and explained the parking facilities. Then she showed us a very nice room and said that if we had any other requirements then just ask. Well, we did as there were a few minor things that we needed.... More

Had a great weekend. Hotel grand and staff friendly and very helpful. Even when the lady took me to show me where to park my car and I nearly took my windmirror off. Iron. Iron board . WiFi. Hairdryer all in ur room. Nice big rooms. Keep up the good work 😆 x

I read all the time about hotels where 'nothing is too much trouble' and always think it sounds over the top, but it's genuinely the case with the Wordsworth. Sam and Bev are so lovely, so welcoming and so helpful, I literally think there's nothing they wouldn't do to make your stay more pleasant. The room was nice, the decor... More

The wordsworth hotel is right in the middle of the town and has easy access to its facilities. The staff who we met were all more than helpful and helped make our short stay a relaxing and enjoyable one. Very good value. Cannot comment on the food as we didn't indulge

Had a great stay at the Wordsworth. Owners were so lovely and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee. Excellent value for money in a central location with secure parking too. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Would definitely stay there again if we are back in the area :)
