Gave this place one more try , wished we hadn't bothered , the foods below average and over priced , the staff are ok at best , had a pint of Guinness the only thing that resembled Guinness was the colour that was left on the table , they will probably respond and blame everybody bar the management , believe... We decided to have Sunday lunch here while visiting Ambleside with friends. The initial draw was the advertisement outside that football matches were screened, and with a mad Man United fan desperate to watch their first premiership match due to start at 1:30pm .....it seemed every one would be happy. First disappointment - no sign of a TV / match... More

The location of the Queens Hotel boasts one of the prime positions in Ambleside and looks very impressive standing at the top of market place, our stay at Ambleside was unforgettable for various reasons but our hotel room just wasn`t one of them. The hotel entrance and reception is grand, the staff and service is second to none, the bar... More

A great location in the centre of Ambleside and a great pub but the hotel needs some real investment. They just seemed to be under staffed and this was particularly evident at breakfast. The first morning wasn't too bad, just had to wait over half an hour for ours to arrive. The second morning however was a complete farce, the... More

Stayed at the Queens for 2 nights. This hotel would score much higher if it wasn't for the problem at breakfast. The first morning wasn't too bad, a short wait then the full English which wasn't too great. One young lady serving who was run off her feet did a fantastic job. The next day we weren't quite so lucky.... More

We arrived looking for accommodation, there were rooms Available but we thought the price was high, I guess summer in The Lake District would determine this. Our room was adequate, the bathroom was small but okay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bar atmosphere was good. Breakfast was quite good too.

We were here for dinner on Thursday we were unable to use the restaurant and were told that we could eat at the bar area even though there were tables available. We placed our food and drinks order at the bar and had to wait over an hour for the food, when it turned up parts of the order were... More

Ate here tonight not good. Firstly the garlic bread on the sharing platter was basically two chunks of bread with crushed garlic on top and melted butter, the bread was soggy. The award winning lasagne although served in an oval dish had been spooned out of a much larger dish, it was a square lump in the middle of the... More

Having read some reviews and looked at hotel earlier in the day we decided to eat here this evening. Wasn't too busy when we arrived so ordered drinks while we looked the menu. Once we'd ordered starters arrived after 20 minutes and everything was ok. The waitress returned to clear the dishes and asked if we were ready for our... More

Thank you for your review on the vegetables you were served with your meal. The vegetables are normally roasted and every attempt is made to adhere to the details in the description of the meal. On occasional circumstances if and when the chef has run out of roasted vegetables and in the time scale he has to prepare the meals,... More

We stayed here last weekend for 2 nights. It's right in the middle of Ambleside near to everything. The hotel was nice and the staff really friendly. Our room was OK apart from the bathroom. It looked tired and dated. Also the fan was black with dust it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Aside from that though the breakfast was really... More
