Stayed here for two nights in September. Arrived earlier than check in time and popped in just to let them know we were here and going to leave car in car park, was pleased that as room was ready that we were able to check in early. However on checking in we were told that when our booking came through... More

Thank you for the review. Having looked into your booking you had reserved one night room only and one nights B & B in Brathay Lodge of which the room rates reflected this. These bookings are common and we don't question why guests have chosen these options however as my colleague explained the option to add breakfast was offered. Reception... More

Enjoyed a two night stay. Ideal base for walkers & centrally located in Ambleside. Our room was in the adjoining building & was a nice size; double bed with table & chairs. Clean & comfortable. The Jacuzzi was just average size bath but ok after a 10 Mile hike. Fresh continental breakfast in the morning, good choice of cereals; breads;... More

This was our second visit to Brathay Lodge and we enjoyed our stay. The spa bath is the biggest attraction as far as the room is concerned. The double bed is huge and the room is a good size. There is ample space in the private car park and we could park directly outside the room we stayed in most... More

Thank you for taking the time to review Brathay Lodge. You have our apologies on missing the linen change and have my reassurance this isn't the norm! We have over the past 9 years improved the creaky floor boards but we are replacing carpets currently and are taking the opportunity to review again. Were pleased the private parking, Jacuzzi, king-szie... More

I had booked this hotel in bit of a hurry and didn't notice that there is no hot breakfast! Having booked this so my wife and I could go walking and I had always had a full english breakfast. Well you don't need a full english breakfast for a day walking. The clod breakfast has very good choice of cereals,... More

We visit Ambleside at least once a year and were impressed with Brathay Lodge. Very friendly staff and the rooms were very nice. It is next to the busiest road in Ambleside but the double glazing keeps the traffic noise out. It is very handy for all the restaurants and most walks from the guest house. Carol at the front... We found this place, only a week before our holiday so I was a bit sceptic as everything else was almost full. We booked a family room which was very spacious for 3 adults and one child. The room was clean and the land lord very helpful at all times. My only comment would be to leave enough toiletries in... More

We have just come back from a 1 night stay at this hotel and was very pleased with our stay. Having been camping in the lakes, we ended up avoiding the Storms and booking in here. This hotel is very accessible for cars and is at the north end of lake Windermere. We found the management and staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was continental and very good. All in all an excellent base from which to see all of the Lake District.

Shower was too hot then too cold, to much noise from the traffic coming through. Not enough tables for breakfast in the morning. Bed linen was dirty in arrival. No one at reception after 6pm. No people skills and rude. I would not recommend this place to family and friends as its not worth the money they charge you.
