Stayed for one night on 22 February. Having searched extensively for somewhere that is child AND dog friendly, and has a pool, and accepts a booking for one night only, I stumbled across the old vicarage and I have to say, it definitely ticks all the boxes. It's centrally located, just tucked off the main road, and has its own...

We stayed for three days, mid-week in February. There is off-road parking in the grounds in front of the house, although it is rather snug. Fortunately our car is not too big. The welcome was good, although there seems to be a strange slightly off-putting odour of stale cigarettes that pervades the hall; although it is a non-smoking establishment, as...

We were greated with tea and coffee when we arrived, and the staff couldn't be more helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The place is very dog friendly, the rooms are spotless. Great breakfast in the morning. At the end of a long days walking it's great to spend time in the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Plenty of parking and...

We had a really lovely evening here. The staff were so accommodating, kind and warm. Always cheerful and seemed genuinely pleased to be part of our experience. The description of the food and wine was exactly as it tasted. We had the premier tasting menu plus wine pairing. I would highly recommend this. Really cosy atmosphere and we felt as...

Very friendly staff who go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They provide little extras like games in the lounge, help yourself extra teas and coffees and glasses so you can have a drink in the room. Lovely pool/hot tub/sauna area which is a bonus. Good breakfast with lots of choice. Very dog friendly which suited...

Stayed at the Old Vicarage for a Saturday night when visiting Ambleside for a weekend break. Amazingly friendly and could not of been more welcoming when we arrived. Really central location and a couple of minute walk to Ambleside centre. Our room "8" had 2 bedrooms which we had booked so our dog was not in the bedroom with us....
