Fairly spur of the minute trip up with my 6 year old son and 70 year old mum, I was surprised to see there was still availability at the NDG. I've stayed here before and think it is one of the most spectacularly located hotels you could ever wish to stay at. Its in the wonderful Langdale Valley, which is... More

We stayed for one night in this hotel while visiting the Lake District for a Duke of Edinburgh challenge with work colleagues. We booked a superior twin room and it was lovely. The room was clean, well decorated and great value. The shower in particular was great - a welcome sight after six hours walking in the surrounding hills! The... More

I had a nice 2 night stay in this very clean and welcoming hotel. Fantastic views all around and in a very remote location. The free Wifi was a little slow, but probably to be expected due to the remote location and old building. Very nice food that came out very fast after ordering. Dining options/rooms are a little confusing... More

Can't decide if this place wants to appeal to the everyday hiker or the more discerning visitor - as displayed by the segregation areas at the front between their hotel Guests and general passers by. On a busy day if the general area is full and the hotel area empty it does not seem to encourage or invite people to... More

Today me and my family had a fab day on Harrison Stickle and surrounding peaks. When we eventually got to the bottom, we decided to have a drink and bar meal, sat outside with beautiful views. At first we did think it was quite expensive, but then thought 'sod it, we're on holiday'! The food was lovely, we all enjoyed... More

Absolutely delighted with our stay last weekend. The staff, the food and the rooms were all wonderful. We've been to this part of the world scores of times before, but we'd never stayed at the hotel. For the 3 reasons above we'll be back. An absolute hidden gem!

This might not be the most modern hotel and won't rival a Holiday Inn, but its' made up for by the very friendly and helpful staff and of course the stunning location at the head of the great Langdale valley. The top floor room was quite stuffy in July but they sorted out fans for us. Not many rooms have... More

Called here for lunch on a lovely sunny day with the family whilst walking in the area, something we have done several times before. Surprisingly quiet, so no problem with a table outside, plenty of choice of drinks and local beer and a large lunchtime menu. Fabulous views, lovely location, food was also good, as was the service, just felt... More
