After seeing an article online recommending the Drunken Duck, I was really looking forward to our visit whilst in Ambleside. Judging by some of the reviews on here, we are not alone in our disappointment. We visited today for lunch, and whilst I couldn't fault the manners of the staff, the quick service, the decor and the fact it is...

What a find. This little gem in the heart of the Lake District is everything that everybody else has described. The food was high quality with excellent produce and great service. The choice of local ales was great with plenty to satisfy the discerning real drinker. Highly recommended.

This pub has everything you need. On a lovely day you can enjoy the beautiful views outside with amazing food and local beer/wine. If it's a bit too cool then you can enjoy your meal inside with an open log fire. Staff are friendly and service great. Dogs are welcome too....

Have visited the Lake District many times but have never been to this fantastic pub before. For beer and food enthusiasts this is a must visit. The excellent beer selection many of which are brewed by the Barngates brewery situated behind the pub does make choice difficult but my favourite was the Tag Lag which luckily they also sell in...

We dined here on a beautiful Friday night in April and it was AMAZING! The food and ambience were fab - the only let down were the fellow American guests that filled the restaurant who were loud and roudy - a venue that does not lend it self to noise. Dog's welcome in the bar and a friendly atmosphere -...

My wife and I stayed here on a a Sunday night, we received a nice welcome and loved the cosy room! Afternoon tea delivered to the room was a nice touch, the bar was warm and rustic and the staff were all very friendly. The food was fantastic, possibly one of the nicest meals we've ever had!! I've read some...

Accidentally stumbled across The Drunken Duck on our way back from a walk round the tarn! I had read about it lots in magazines and places to eat in the Lakes and was not disappointed! The interior is unquestionably English with a roaring stove keeping you warm after a chilly walk and is accompanied with a beautiful menu, both food...

We visited the Drunken Duck on our mini-moon in January. We originally booked in for dinner on the Wednesday but soon realised how good the food was and returned the following night! Service is exceptional, as is the beer and the food is excellent. My wife and I worked our way through the menu- particular highlights were the faggot, the...

Had a wonderful evening here with my other half. Food was excellent and service was on point. I had the kimchi broth with dumplings for starters followed by the cod. Both were delicious and the flavours in the broth were particularly notable. Dessert could have done with a little refinement (treacle tart) but was still very good. Great food, drinks,...
