We stopped off here and decided to get our lunch. The food was pricey but quite good. We each shared a platter. We were warned that it may take up to 45 minutes but the food arrived hot and ready to eat within five. The service was good even though they were busy due to showing live sport. It's worth... More

We stayed here with hiking in Langdale in mind. Its 20 minutes by car or public bus to Old Dungeon Ghyll. The room itself was spacious, and the breakfast very good, English style. The Inn is in the center of town which is a lively spot and close to Windermere also. One proviso: when there is music in the bar,... More

Were staying Ambleside and decided to experience different pubs for our meals (as well as Tesco meals when we were tired and wanted to stay in). Went to The Churchill and weren't impressed. The service was pretty abrupt and off hand. Ordered drinks and then up to the bar to order meals. It seemed only a matter of a few... More

I stayed at this hotel in early-mid October. The staff were kind and helpful and the breakfast was well cooked. There was noise in the evening but events had been clearly marked. As for Ambleside itself, the town is a complete rip-off with shameful charging for those of us with disabled parking badges, and bad attitudes in shops.

We had a 2 night stay at this venue. The rooms were adequate with en suite facilities and tea / coffee making facilities. No window in the bathroom, however appeared to be suitably ventillated. Bed was comfortable. Parking was limited and extremely tight with very steep incline down to it.

So I had taken my pregnant girlfriend away for her birthday and as said in the headline, I had brought her up to the lakes to propose to her so obviously a very special occasion. So first of all, we walk in and its just a pub which is fine but its a dingy one. The gentlemen behind the bar... More

During a 6 week tour of UK and Europe this is the only pub we went into where the tables were not cleaned immediately patrons departed!!!! As we left we saw guests arriving to stay and felt sorry for them in that they had to enter via a not too great pub

Beautiful sunny day out in the Lake District, popped into Ambleside and had lunch at the Churchill. Serves lunches from 12 - 5 pm. Friendly, helpful staff. Good Service. Great menu choice. Pub Grub at its best. Enjoy.
