We had the family room - one double bed and two singles for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 12 and 9) - room was a good size. Wash basin was in the room and ensuite included the toilet and shower. Nice view from the room which was at the back of the house onto the church and view onto... More

We received a warm welcome and our room was clean and comfortable, if a little small (to be expected in this area). The bathroom (shower only) was absolutely tiny but functional. The guesthouse is well located for the middle of Ambleside, but the parking is quite a hike away. You have to park your car across the busy road from... More

I paid £38 for a single room. Not en-suite (sink in room though), but exclusive use of a bathroom a couple of strides away. Gown provided! En-suite rooms were available. I've paid over £200 for poorer hotel rooms over the years. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits included. Facilities to dry clothes available to. Ideal for hill walkers. Tv with DVD... More

Excellent guest house. Alan & Alison are very helpful hosts. Rooms very clean and tidy, breakfast are first rate, plenty of choice. Only criticism is the showers are not very powerful. Would definititly stay there again.

..and this is a good one. Stayed for one night whilst on a brief walking break; warm and friendly welcome which lifted the spirits after a day on the fells. Room was clean and well kept and nothing seemed to much trouble to the owner. A fabulous breakfast set us up for another walk and was freshly made and tasty.... More

Alison looks after us each time we visit, which is twice a year. We are a group of friends who cant wait to spend time together in Ambleside. Thorneyfield is like a home from home to us and Alison and Alan always look after us. We normally book our next trip on the day of departure, it has become a... More

Lovely little place in the centre of Ambleside which is more of a boutique hotel than a guest house. Warm & friendly welcome from host Alan who showed me to my comfortable & spotlessly clean single room with really comfy bed, a fridge, sink & generous supplies of premium tea, coffee & biscuits. The private bathroom just opposite was very... More

The hosts of this lovely B&B could not have been more friendly, helpful, or accommodating. The room was spotless and comfortable, and fairly sound-proof as long as the window was shut - I was in room 5, on the second floor, in between two other rooms and at the front, but it really wasn't as noisy as some reviewers suggest.... Me and my partner stayed here last night after a few days in the Lakes. When we arrived we were welcomed in asif it was our home. The owners were so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed/wanted for our short stay. You have your own parking space which is handy as there is nowhere else to park... More
