Fantastic B & B, great hostess, out of the bustle in Ambleside but only 2minute walk down a gentle slope or steps, great find, I would highly recommend. On arrival, we were greeted by smiles and information about the local area and top tips. Our room was at the front overlooking Loughrigg, the room was spotless, chic and faultless, amazing...

Barnes Fell is a lovely little B&B. We stayed in the Loughrigg suite which is the largest and has stunning views over the neighbouring fell and Farifield Horseshoe. Ethna and Nick are excellent hosts, the breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the room was beautifully decorated and very clean. I also appreciated that there was hand cream in the bathroom...

Barnes Fell is a lovely place to stay - a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside, just away from the traffic and high up enough to have wonderful views. Ethna is very warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, even including our visiting son for the delicious full English breakfast. Very generous of you, thank...

Ethna and Nick are the perfect hosts, warm, funny, will do whatever it takes to ensure you have the perfect break. The rooms are cosy, spotless and with stunning views over the hills. We opened the wardrobe to discover large...

Stayed here with friends in July. We all loved this B&B which was in a very quiet location in Ambleside but just a short walk into town centre. There was very easy free parking - a miracle in Ambleside, especially in the summer. Views over the Fells were fantastic and what can I say about the hosts, Ethna and Nick?...

Barnes Fell B&B is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting lake Windermere, away from the main streets in a quiet location overlooking the beautiful hills. A very short walk away is the village of Ambleside with good places to eat. Our room was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. Nick and Ethna Davenport are...

Ethna was waiting to greet us and was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived and throughout. The room was clean and spacious with a wonderful en suite bathroom attached and great little personal touches like bathrobes. The breakfasts were...
