Great place, which is ideally placed close to Ambleside. George and Val are welcoming and friendly people, and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is of an excellent standard. Will definitely come back again.

We had a lovely two night stay here and were made to feel very welcome. Good location close to the centre means just a stroll to eat. Comfortable room, relaxed feel and a great breakfast - you will sleep like a baby.

Thank you for your comments. With Red Bank being an old house built in 1903 the outside walls are 2 feet thick of lakeland slate and all the dividing interior walls are brick so noise levels are very low. With our private off road parking and only a short walk to the centre of Ambleside we are ideally situated. More

We had the most amazing weekend at Red Bank. George and Val were helpful and welcoming. The location is perfect to walk into Ambleside City Center or to the trail heads. The rooms were comfortable and beautiful! We will definitely stay at Red Bank if we ever return to Ambleside! -Abby and Ben

Just home from spending the bank holiday weekend in Ambleside. We usually stay in self catering accommodation but this time we decided to do bed and breakfast. What an excellent choice staying at Red Bank. Val and George have a beautiful place and we were made to feel very very welcome. Red Bank has the perfect location in Ambleside and... More

Thanks for your comments and good to hear all your group enjoyed your stay with us. The private off road parking is a bonus in Ambleside and each room has their own parking area so no swopping of cars when people leave. The short walk to the village and slightly longer walk to Waterhead to use the launches means there... More

From the moment Val & George ( not forgetting Holly the dog) welcome you to Red Bank you feel so relaxed and taken care of. Little touches like fresh milk available 24/7 located in the fridge adjacent to your room! Breakfasts that are expertly cooked to order by Val are outstanding, this lady really knows how to cook eggs to... More

Red Bank is ideally sited for a short walk into the town center and Ambleside besides being a beautiful town is also a great location. The rooms were slightly smaller than we are used to in B&B's . Breakfast was not varied with the help yourself on the cabinet and a feeling that with breakfast that it was not overly... More

Thanks for your comments. We apologised for the scaffolding when you arrived as the roof had just been finally repaired following the damage from Storm Desmond. You had booked a smaller room, online and because you were an overseas traveller we gave you a free upgrade to the Gold Rm which had a super king bed and more space. However,... More

Our favourite place to stay in Ambleside, we have stayed many times with Val and George at Red Bank, always in January and have been well looked after, always made welcome and been cosy and warm enjoying a cup of tea on arrival by their log fire when the weather has been cold, even snow. They make excellent breakfasts which... More

Our room was spotless, breakfast delicious and catering for gluten free guests too. George & Val made us extremely welcome, taking our very wet walking gear and drying it for us. We will definitely be staying again.

This was our third stay at Red Bank. As always, we were made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The house has lots of little extras which make it very appealing. Plus a superb location, with car parking but easy walking distance to Amblesdie centre.
