Just back from a short break. Although the hotel needs a little updating, we had a lovely couple of nights. The room was comfortable and clean. Only downside was that it was at the front of the building and as it was so hot we had to have the windows open. It looks out on to a very busy road... More

We got the final room using a booking app. Top floor (ie 4th floor), no lift. Room adequate size, no AC, no fan, very warm room as in the roof. Restaurant downstairs only serves breakfast, which was included in the tariff (no lunch or dinner), but short walk will see lots of eateries in this town, so not a problem.... More

This hotel is no nightmare, indeed. However it is never worth the miney they are asking. Mould in the bathroom, dirty towels, ridiculous hairdriers and a service desk that is not even aware about basic bicycle services in town, paired with an unacceptable breakfast where everything comes out of conserves, are signs of needing a serious renovation.

Terrible management not disabled friendly would not recommend staying here with children. The building is lovely but it's not worth your money. If your child is not silent at meal times you may be asked to leave so unless you have a perfect child that remains silent at all times this is not the hotel for you.

Do not go here with a child that has autism as the manager will ask u to leave ! We witnessed this and are appalled at what the family went through all because their son was on his iPad to keep him calm. Never again would I set foot in this hotel. Enough said.

My family and I stayed at The Russell Hotel whilst attending a recent family wedding in Wadhurst. It was a reasonable travel distance and one of only a few that could host all 10 of us in a nearby area, hence why we choose. it. We each paid £105 per night for our double rooms. The price most certainly reflects... More

We only stayed for 1 night and we found the location 10 mins. walk from the train station and the pantiles ideal. The hotel was full so we were in the annexe. There is a terrible damp smell and the carpets are filthy, the bedroom was dated but adequate and the bedding was clean and had good bath towels. We... More

We stayed two nights here in the annex part of the hotel. Good points were the staff who were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast. Our room was rather old fashioned but comfortable. The end of the bed was supported on two bags of bricks but was very comfortable however. The bathroom needs updating. The shower had no extractor... More

The building itself looks quite impressive from the outside but once you step inside it is like going back in time. Shabby yellow and blue decor which I remember being fashionable In the 80's ....... it did look as if that was when it was last decorated! Walls were scuffed and dirty. Dirty paintwork and a dusty old carpet throughout.... More
