#4 of 10 in Ramsgate
The Hotel is made up of three Georgian Grade 2 listed townhouses, two of which are adjoining, that date back to 1799. They occupy the prime position in Ramsgate's best known historic garden crescent. Many of the bedrooms boast magnificent views over the 'Royal Harbour', the yacht marina and the English Channel. Some even have their own private south east facing balcony! 'The Empire Room' our 30 cover restaurant serves modern British food in a club setting. Open Mon-Sat 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Open on Sunday Bank and Public Holiday weekends.

Awful customer service and booking process, avoid at all costs. I booked 6 rooms for my father’s 77th birthday and some visiting family, this was done on the basis that the website offers 2 days prior to arrival cancellation, however.. this is only on some rooms and rates (even if you book them all together). My father was rushed to A&E and remains in intensive care a week before our stay, so I called to regretfully have to cancel our rooms (giving the hotel plenty of time to resell the rooms – this weekend Ramsgate is very busy so they’ll almost certainly be full again), but the manager, Tim, refused to budge and has forced us to pay for two rooms which were (frankly quite deceptively) without a cancelation option, despite all 6 rooms being booked at the same time on the same booking. I’m sure Tim will reply to this comment stating that the option to move the booking was given, but this was a once-off occasion with family flying in from Australia I have no need to use them again. Sometimes customer service means doing things outside of the contract, don’t expect that to happen here.

Beautiful building and rather quirky but nice hotel (such as an Honesty Bar). Location excellent with views across the Royal Harbour itself (spend a little extra to get a balcony - 1st floor - if you can, well worth it); on a quiet crescent off main road and 5 mins to cente of everything. Staff are great; paricularly the marvelous Matthew who couldn't be more friendly and helpful. OK rooms (& bathrooms) on small side, but we're talking a (Grade 2 listed I think) Georgian building; but lovely decorated (4 Poster Bed; mini reading library) with quirky touches (triangular wardrove amused me). 4 richly decorated communal rooms - snug for TV; reading; bar; tea & coffee seemed the idea but relaxed. Restaurants thgey recommend a short walk away and whilst many others nearby are great too. BTW Ramsgate has got rather a reputation as a seen it's best ex-resort/ferry port BUT is incredibly richly endowed with beautiful streets and building as well as good beaches

We stayed at the Royal Harbour Hotel on our way back to France before catching an early morning Eurotunnel from Folkestone. The hotel was really inviting and full of character and it felt very homely and cozy. There was an open fire in the lounge with lots of comfortable armchairs and it would have been very easy to have spent the evening sitting by the fire enjoying the view out over the harbour! However, we had booked a local restaurant for dinner so didn’t have the time!!! Our room was also lovely. On the first floor, it was really well equipped and had a huge four poster bed, a small balcony with harbour views and a good size bathroom. We’d happily stay again!!

The hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment, everything about it was run down. The room was small, basic and the amenities were lacking. I would not describe the room we stayed in as a suite in any way, like it does on their website! It wasn't anything special at all for the price paid and considering it was meant to be one of their best rooms. No towels on arrival and the tele in the bathroom was broken, a feature we would have enjoyed using. No fridge meant some snacks we brought we had to keep cool on the window ledge. You could hear noise from other guests and the noise from the road late and night and first thing in the morning. Overall, a poor stay and I would not return.

Best thing about this hotel is the views and the location. In need of a complete refurb as rooms very dated and tired. We had a harbour view room and the view was amazing - highly recommend. However, the bed was very soft and uncomfortbale but bedding very nice and clean. The bedknobs were also missing which left it looking grubby and there was some dust on windows and on furniture. Bathroom very small with large shower but could do with a shower curtain as the floor got very wet and very slippery. The bottom half of the walls had plastic sheeting screwed on to them which I can only imagine is to preserve the paintwork but paintwork was very old and patchy and there were only three coat hangers available. No breakfast available but there was ample parking directly outside the hotel but think this was due to the time of the year. We would return but sadly only for the view. I would say more of a guest house than a hotel and the rooms are not as fresh as the pictures would suggest.

Friendly staff, comfy beds and location for my work were the redeeming features here, but the hotel is all over the place. No restaurant, breakfast option is items in a bag, no bar as such, very confused theme (if there was one), no laundry service, needs a good paint job pretty much throughout, rooms not serviced consistently, smallest rooms I’ve come across for a long time etc. Has massive potential, but I feel that many of the rooms need knocking through combining 2 into 1 and charging a tad more maybe if this was to happen. In its current state, I’d not return.

This is not the type of hotel we would normally stay in however it was recommended to my husband so we thought we would give it a try. The location is great right opposite Ramsgate harbour. We booked a one night stay as a relaxing break in a double cosy room. It was definitely a small room but it was a cosy room. If like me your used to staying in larger 4star corporate hotels this will be a very different stay. It’s a very quaint guest house, there are a couple of lounges and a library all very old fashioned it feels like you’ve gone back in time but you can tell this is done purposeful and it works if your into that kind of feel. There are no facilities and no breakfast included which if you include the 4pm check in and the 10am check out it’s very expensive for what is being offered. The sea view from our room was amazing and there was nothing better than opening up the curtains early in the morning for that view. The bed was very comfortable and with feather down duvet and pillows it made for a great nights sleep. Unfortunately on entering the room I could smell a dog smell. I didn’t realise until later that it was a dog friendly hotel therefore the smell was probably lingering in the carpets. As someone who doesn’t have a dog it was a really unpleasant smell. There was also a smell in the bathroom that came and went especially in the night but not in the morning. The TV was also not tuned, fortunately my tech savvy husband was able to sort this out but I see from previous reviews the tv issue seems to be an ongoing problem. The amenities in the room were lacking, a tiny travel kettle with two teabags and two coffees, there was no soap in the bathroom so we had to improvise with shower gel. There was also a broken mirror. The rooms were very clean therefore they must have great cleaners however I feel like they are probably lacking on a handyman to keep on top of issues. Would we stay again? If the rate was cheaper, breakfast included and a choice of a non dog friendly room then yes 100%. The view and location were fantastic, we enjoyed the quirks and quaintness of the hotel but at the current price no we wouldn’t stay again as it’s just too expensive for what is being offered.
