Great location, just a few minutes walk to the town and restaurants, with lovely harbour views and parking spaces (although not reserved) on the road outside the hotel. Ideal for 1 - 2 night stay with an overnight bag but as there isn't a lift I wouldn't want to carry a suitcase up the winding stairs, particularly if you have... More

The hotel has good aspects but they are out-weighed by the faults. Its location is great and the rooms are well decorated. However, we travelled with suitcases and the room was so small there was nowhere to put them without having to step over them on the floor. The room was tiny - about 10 feet by 11 feet -... More

I booked a single room and it was small as lots of reviews say, the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze ! But it was bright, pleasant, recently nicely decorated and a great view. Be prepared to climb lots of stairs tho - this is a Victorian building so don't expect a modern glass and steel lift !. The... More

When we arrived for a weekend with relatives to celebrate a birthday we were told that 1 of our 2 rooms had been cancelled by phone. What had actually happened was that one of our party had enquired which floor our rooms were on as we were concerned about number of stairs (my husband has slight mobility issues) - they... More

This is a wonderful hotel in a perfect setting overlooking the harbour. Unusual in all ways. The small single room with a sea view was perfect. Very quiet and comfortable bed. The quirky decor was very unusual. Stairs up to the room were a bit steep but we were warned about that. Great breakfast with a very wide choice. Fresh... More

Thoroughly enjoyable stay, clean comfortable room, good breakfast with plenty of choice and friendly helpful staff. Perfect location for bars and restaurants and for exploring Canterbury and the Kent coast. The Empire restaurant within the hotel is excellent for lunches and evening dinner, a must visit during your stay.

This hotel is in a sublime location with wonderfully characterful rooms and lovely shabby chic communal areas. Summer or winter it is a lovely venue with views from the front rooms and wood fires in the sitting rooms in winter. I've spent months here and never tire of it!

This is a lovely, quaint hotel, with beautiful views and friendly staff! We had a family room which was lovely, clean and roomy! The breakfast in the morning was exquisite, they have such a range of different meals, from hot dishes like; a full English, omelet, boiled eggs etc... To continental options like; croissants, waffles, fruit, cured ham, cheese, yogurts,... More

If you want a hotel with charm, this is the one for you. Rooms spotless but not clinical like some of the chain hotels these days. Stayed for one night and have already booked to go back next year. Front rooms have a fantastic view over the harbour, the rear rooms look out over the garden.
