We have stayed in The White House on two occasions. Both times we have been impressed by the comfort of the rooms (especially the lovely big bath!) and the welcome of the owner Adrian. A warm welcome, even after we telephoned 4 times after getting lost! and nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic location, just off of the high street... More

My wife and I stayed here back in 2013 on the night before and night of our wedding. We hired out the entire house for us and a few guests and no-one was disappointed. The house is immaculate and beautifully decorated throughout. The staff/owners were brilliant, friendly, easy going and very accommodating for our needs. It's in the heart of... More

I stayed here the night before my wedding, and my wife and I stayed the evening of our wedding. The owner, Adrian, made us feel incredibly welcome and we both absolutely loved the place. The room we stayed in was beautiful and very comfortable, and the whole house is lovely inside and out. When Adrian found out it was our... More

The White House is an easy walk from the train station, pulling a light roller bag. The location for exploring all Canterbury has to offer is superb. Adrian is welcoming, hospitable, friendly, cheerful and very helpful with suggestions - he is local! Breakfast is excellent (loved the mushrooms on toast), our room spacious with a spacious ensuite bathroom. Thank you... More

Consistently excellent every time we have stayed. This place has superb featured rooms, the cleanliness is excellent as is the customer service. The decor and history of building bring extra dimension as Canterbury is a heritage city. The breakfast is made of top quality ingredients and superbly cooked again on a consistent basis. We have recommended friends and global work... More

We stayed at the White House for 2 nights and were extremely impressed with everything. Adrian was fantastic from the moment we arrived. He made us feel very welcome. The room was great, very spacious with a huge bed and lovely furnishings. Breakfast was great, with Adrian being very attentive. All in all it was definitely the best bed and... More

From the very first contact by phone, I found everything about The White House to be of the very highest standard. Adrian could not have been more helpful, or done any more to make our stay any better. Having warmly welcomed us on our arrival, he instructed us on where to park, signed us in and took us to our... The White House is situated at a great location: quiet yet smack in the centre of town, with parking very nearby. The rooms are clean and have good showers/bath. They do quite a good breakfast, which is cooked to order. Adrian, the host, is very welcoming and friendly. If I have to nag, I'd say that the only minus point... More

Excellent and funny host - we stayed here with my parents who were visiting from the states. Clean and spacious rooms with great recommendations on exploring Canterbury. Really enjoyed the breakfast service in the morning and the relaxing and quiet vibe of the White House. Would stay here again for sure

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you enjoy staying in stylish accommodation, with all those extra little personal touches that make you feel special as a guest, then welcome to The White House. The property is an elegant Grade II listed Regency Town House, originally reputed to have been the retirement home of Queen Victoria's Head Coachman and built in 1825. Our 4 Star Highly Commended accommodation is especially suited to discerning guests seeking a small intimate property (regrettably we do not cater for children) and its ideal location, within the City walls, is an added bonus for those who enjoy soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of a University city and who appreciate good old fashioned personal service to the impersonality of national hotel chains. Rooms are furnished to ensure maximum guest comfort - large cosy beds to fall into after a hard days sightseeing, soft pillows, with cool contemporary white linens and quality furnishings to ensure a real 'home from home'. A few minutes walk (literally!) will take you right into the main High Street, so we are perfectly situated to browse all the best shops, restaurants and of course a 'must see' visit to the Cathedral and perhaps take in a show at the stunning new Marlowe Theatre.Parking couldn't be easier - across the road in the Pound Lane Car Park - with concessionary vouchers available to our guests at £6.00 for 24 hours ... more   less
