Excellent family rooms; staff is extremely polite, informed, and helpful. Food in restaurant was good and the price reasonable. Would stay here again because it's the entire package: good rooms, good staff, good meals! Only downfall is unloading area is limited and parking is a small walk- but it's good and beautiful 4 minute walk to the car!

Lovely old hotel right in the middle of Canterbury. Room was very clean. The bathroom had a lovely rainfall shower and was also very clean. All of the staff were very polite and friendly. The stairs are quite narrow so if you have walking difficulties you may struggle. If i was nit picking I would have liked a larger bath... More

Staff were very friendly and informative, the hotel is probably in the best location in town - near all the fun, but quiet. The sister restaurant Dems (French Brasserie) was very reasonable with high quality food - mussels were fantastic! Eggs Benedict next morning was probably the best I ever had, thickest roast ham and lashings of Hollandaise, didn't feel... More

Thanks Nagoyaman Always good to hear we've helped our business clientele forget they are supposed to be working (however briefly!). Perhaps you can visit on your holidays one day and really take your time in Canterbury and our hotel and its two restaurants. Thanks again for your kind remarks. More

Lovely old building within walking distance of Canterbury West railway station and right in the centre of all the attractions. I had a single room, small but adequate. Everything in the room was spotless, the bathroom looked very new with plenty of toiletries. Breakfast in Dem was excellent, plenty of choices, good quality food, All the staff were extremely courteous friendly... More

Hello David Many of our visitors who arrive by train are surprised how close we are to the station (Canterbury West) and of course once you are with us you could hardly be closer to the Cathedral and everything else central to our wonderful city centre. Glad you had a lovely stay and hope to see you again soon. Thank... More

We stayed here for one night on our first visit to Canterbury, and found it ideal. The location is incredibly handy for visiting the Cathedral and prowling arond the small city centre. The city council has an arrangement with hotels and B&Bs whereby for £6 you can leave your car in a city car park for 24 hours. This convenience... More

Stayed here for two nights for onward travel to Dover for work. Very welcoming staff. Rooms were comfortable and clean and food was very good. I had a twin room when I was expecting a double but apart from this everything was good. Parking is about a five minute walk from the hotel.

Hi Gary Thanks for your kind comments - we have investigated how your double room became a twin room (this has previously happened when booking via 3rd party websites although we hope this has now been eradicated) and hope you weren't too badly inconvenienced. Great that you enjoyed the food! More

Have been to The Pilgrims Hotel many times before and enjoyed a lovely meal, before a show.its a shame they have revamped and made it to modern, cramped more tables in, making it very noisy too.we were Waiting for food for too long and then no apologise when it turns up incorrect, again a shame will not be going back.

Hi Diane We are glad you are a regular and do hope we can tempt you back again, soon. You are quite right, our new larger menus, enhanced lighting, general refurbishment and bar extension (range) have made us ever-more popular, especially just before a show at the Marlowe. To help us cope better in the future we are now upgrading... More

Our GPS took us right to the door where we unloaded our luggage and then drove off to park in the public parking lot some blocks away. Small, steep stairs to the room on the second floor (U.S.) but room was decent size and bathroom was good with a tub. No place to put suitcases and small closet. But there... More

A lovely hotel right in the heart of the city took us 45 minutes to find as all one way and dead end roads! ! If you want a lazy lie in don't come here the couple in the room above us got up about 6.30 & the hoover outside our room went on at 9am. When we're away we... More

Ah, Beverley, so sorry we disturbed your lie-in - not what you want! We do try to ensure no housekeeping is undertaken near guests still in mid-slumber but clearly we over-looked your room on this occasion. Had a beautiful meal here last night. Extremely friendly staff. Meal was very good. Good atmosphere - Old English. Fast (but not too fast) service. Well priced. Just across from the Marlowe Theatre. Perfect place for a meal before a show.

Thanks for your kind comments Earl! People are often surprised how few genuine English restaurants there are in the centre of Canterbury, so we are very conscious of the traditions we are continuing which extends to our pub-style bar with local ales, wonderful wines (including some English delights!) and the general ambience of our charming 400 year-old premises. Great to... More
