#8 of 16 hotels in Canterbury
Just metres from Canterbury's medieval West Gate, this charming building dates back to 1403. A former coaching inn, it offers free WiFi and free parking, 2 minutes' walk from the city centre. The Falstaff still retains many original features, including oak beams and an open log fire. Each room has a TV for guests to use, and facilities for making tea and coffee. The hotel offers a cooked to order full English breakfast as well as self service buffet option. The bar offers a range of wines and variety of exclusive cocktails. Canterbury West Rail Station is a 3-minute walk from the building. The city's spectacular Norman cathedral can be reached in less than 10 minutes on foot.

Really good location to explore and go shopping. Hotel is really clean and tidy looking in the bar and seating areas. We stayed in a luxury room which was lovely and had the freestanding bath in the room. Room slightly smaller than I had expected but was comfortable and cosy nonetheless. Breakfast was delicious. You have to order from a menu and I believe you can order as much as you want but you do feel limited and almost rationed. The only downside is that we weren’t able to have a drink in the hotel in the evening as we hadn’t reserved a table. This left us in a bit of a predicament as after our dinner outside the hotel we wanted to relax in the bar area before going back to our room but weren't able to. And we didn’t want to join the hordes of boozed up youngsters in any of the local bars. The receptionist was very helpful though and we were able to order some cocktails which were brought up to our room.

A really lovely hotel right in the middle of Canterbury. The location is perfect as you can walk to all the shops, restaurants and the Cathedral within minutes. Service is good and our luxury room was perfect, very cosy with an amazing Victorian bath as a very interesting feature to the room. A very good cooked breakfast as well, we will be back to stay here!

We stayed in a junior suite in the annex which was beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds. We found the hotel to be of a very high standard and enjoyed the bar/restaurant/lounge areas. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast; we had already set low expectations based on reviews but compared to the rest of the hotel experience, the breakfast really was a big unnecessary disappointment. It felt like we were being rationed in the way in why you had to order packets of cereal!! Such a shame as this part of the stay just didn’t match the hotel quality and reputation. I would love to talk this through to offer suggestions should management wish to discuss. Putting this aside, Anna stood out in my initial contact with the hotel with great professional customer service and we had other great pieces of service. The hotel offered a great feel and we would love to return. Please fix the breakfast or just don’t offer it as it ruins the overall experience.

Lovely overnight stay . Decor of rooms was gorgeous! Beds super comfy and showers amazing . Bit of noise from pub outside but to be expected as the building is very old and therefore no double glazing . Did not keep us awake . Was a lovely stay. Parking on site was easy. Breakfast ok , not many options but think it was due to covid not having many guests. I really liked it here
