The original 15th-century character has been respected and enhanced in this beautiful accommodation. Choose between themed rooms in the main house or modern rooms in the Stable Annexe, each with an abundance of thoughtful extras. Guests enjoy the 24-hr honesty bar, cosy lounges and bright, airy conservatory. Delightfully helpful service, free parking, free Wi-Fi & large, sunny heritage garden add to the appeal of this historically significant property which is a short stroll from shops, restaurants, bars, the marvelous Marlowe Theatre, bus and railway stations. Equally the City's historical sites and river Stour are steps away. Kent & Christchurch Universities and the famous Kent Cricket ground are all within easy proximity.

We stayed here for 2 nights, and it far exceeded all expectations. Within 3 minutes walk of the train station, it is perfectly located, and not more than about 12 minutes walk to the Cathedral and The King's School. The staff are very warm and welcoming. We stayed in one of the more modern rooms outside the main building. It was very cosy, with free wi-fi everywhere and a great breakfast is also served in the dining room. I thought I lost my watch the night before, and the manager did everything to help me find it including calling the event planner of the party I had been to the night before to help find the watch. Fortunately, we did find the watch. I would happily recommend House of Agnes to anyone visiting Canterbury.

Property's Favorite Review
Booked following a cancellation by another hotel nearby. Weren't we lucky! At the House of Agnes, we found great attention to detail, with an accent on quality, and wanted for nothing. From large good quality towels to good breakfasts, with too many items to list in between. All the staff are most pleasant and helpful. You will be very comfortable here. The location is good for bars, eating places and places of interest.

I'm glad that we were able to turn a negative experience into a positive one! We were very happy to accommodate you and so delighted that you enjoyed your time with us. Perhaps you'll book with us in the future, with the knowledge that you will get a warm and friendly welcome from the start!

We only booked for one night, to attend a wedding locally, but it was a great stay. The inn is right in the middle of town and I thought it might be noisy on a Saturday night. But, even though the front room of the suite had a window onto the main road, it was very quiet. There is a car park at the back of the property. It's very narrow getting through the gate so if you have a big car be prepared to breathe in. The accommodation itself is quirky and fun as well as being sparkling clean. Breakfast in the morning was tasty and there was plenty of it. And the service throughout couldn't have been more friendly. Thanks very much!

Stayed for one night only and really enjoyed our time at the hotel. All the staff were very pleasant especially Anna on the front desk. We left something in our room on checking out and hotel will post item on to us. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Breakfast room can get busy however, waiting for a table is not a problem if you aren’t in a rush. Would suggest driving through narrow car park with wing mirrors retracted. Will stay again at the hotel when next in Canterbury.

Hello Runningoap! Thank you for taking the time from running to write a review :-) We enjoyed having your stay with us and are delighted that you may return. There are some lovely scenic routes nearby if you need to have a morning run. The river Stour is a few steps away and has a great cycle/ jogging path. If you decide to choose a cycle ride instead of running, we have bike hire waiting for you in the garden!

This busy Inn is the place where you can rest, enjoy a peaceful garden, sip a drink in their 'Honesty Bar', and make memories. Stable 1 was my room: modern, with comfortable beds, nice bath with jacuzzi tub, and by the garden. WiFi signal strong, nice morning breakfast, and under 5 minutes from the train station. I found a room via their site, all browsers showed it as fully booked. In England, properties that get fully booked prefer to sell their rooms directly instead of using the typical booking systems. Try, try hard to get a room because the house has a history that you want to read about or see at the British Museum. Friendly and cordial staff, booking was simple via email and phone.

Hello there! Thank you for your comprehensive reveiw of the House of Agnes. Its interesting to see your comments about the best way to find the best rates!. Indeed, by booking directly with an accommodation provider it helps keep prices low and enables us to give the best quality and the best rooms at the best rate. As you mentioned, by going via an online travel agent (OTA) you are having to make up for a hefty commission and it doesn't assist the small, unique B&B's/hotels to survive. WE tend not to put our rooms on those type of search engines.... Book Direct and get the best of everything! Plus we get to learn a bit about you before you arrive which makes for a really friendly connection from the getgo :-)
