It is situated in a quiet area, 10-15 walk from the centre of the town. Free off street parking. Pleasant and warm old fashioned decorations. Nice clean room and bathroom, very good breakfast and service. During my stay it was a problem with the overheating of the room but I am sure they will put it right. I fully recommend...

After staying at Giffard House before, when visiting Winchester staying here was an obvious choice. I was not disappointed. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Yvonne the manageress is extremely knowledgeable about the area and goes out of her way to make your visit as comfortable as possible. The house is stunning, drenched in history and fabulous decor. We...

A quirky establishment - chintzy, which may have been the owner's intention. Having taken on this theme the Giffard was just the job. The breakfast was fine punctuated by calls from the macaw in a neighbouring room. Without a doubt service was 100%. The only drawback, and I must emphasise that this is a personal view, is that it's a...

I stayed here recently with friends. The B&B is in a quiet but central location, around 10 minutes walk from the town centre. Rooms are well appointed and of a reasonable size. The railway line is audible from rooms facing the back of the property, but this isn't really a problem during the night. The car park is quite large,...

We were spending a couple of nights in Winchester to visit the Christmas Market and explore the town centre and it was important to find somewhere central where our car could be safely parked whilst we walked into town. Giffard House ticked all the boxes being just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Winchester but also close to...

The hotel was a grand Edwardian building with décor reflecting both those times and of the colonies. Walking distance/time to the centre of this historic city was only 10 minutes. The staff of the hotel were all extremely friendly and helpful and our room situated on the ground floor at the front of the hotel was both comfortable and impressive...

When looking for somewhere different to say, I came across Giffard House. I hate the normal run-of-the-mill hotels that could be anywhere on the planet. Gifford House offers splendid sophistication with tasteful decorations and beautiful bedrooms. The place is spotless and the welcome most friendly. Peter is knowledgeable about the property and the area as well as the local attractions...

I booked 4 single rooms (I know the smallest) but the picture on the website looked like the rooms were decent. They ended up being closet sized rooms. Not even a place to put your suitcase. I'm 5'10 and the single bed had a foot board and I couldn't lay down with my legs fully extended. Amenities were nice...coffee/tea in...

Thank you for your review, I find it hard to understand why a 5ft 10in tall person is not able to fully stretch out in a mattress length of 6ft 3in bearing in mind both the foot and head boards are added to this length and the mattress sits clear in between. Also for luggage the Victorian style iron bedsteads...

We stayed at Giffard house for a weekend to explore Winchester and visit my grandmother who lives near Romsey. It was perfect. After looking at the website we booked up but felt we may be about to stay at faulty towers however we were very mistaken, we arrived to be greeted by a lovely friendly lady who showed us up...

Gifford House is about a 15-minute walk to Winchester cathedral, the main shops and wide variety of restaurants. We stayed in room 3 on the first floor. Although the two en-suite bathrooms were perhaps a little superfluous for a room in a B&B, we would choose the room again given its spaciousness and very comfortable king bed. It was very...
