We have recently arrived home after two night stay at this wonderful 5* hotel. My husband booked this as a surprise for my 50th birthday. At check in we were greeted with smiles and the lady checking us in wished me happy birthday. We were shown to our room 'willow' which was right up the top of the hotel, not...

We have run out of superlatives to describe our multiple times staying at the Lainston House Hotel outside of Winchester, England. The physical environment of the building itself and its extensive surrounding grounds are only a start. The rooms are furnished uniquely and with great taste incorporating modern conveniences, like heated bathroom floors, in a historic context. We had the...

Lainston House has a great reputation as a top country house hotel. The building and the rooms are all a bit tired and it is difficult to understand why a beautiful 300 year old house has been decorated with modern wallpapers that have no relationship with the period. the public rooms are comfortable. The panelled small dining room was very...

What a place, lovely grounds, beautiful buildings. A great place to be. The food was excellent, one of the best soups I have ever tasted. The beef melted in your mouth, roast potatoes ,perfect , as well as the Yorkshire puddings. The staff could not do enough for you. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left. First...

Disappointing and over rated afternoon tea. No one to greet us, ended up putting coats on drawing room floor. No disabled parking. Table tiny & cramped in cold draughty corner by window with no curtain, ' side ' table was rickety , damaged and shabby ( not chic!) Poor quality tea overall , not as described in menu. cucumber &...

Everything about this place is truly enchanting, such an old building and lovingly looked after. Staff are so polite and professional, the uniqueness of the rooms make you feel that they are yours and yours alone. Only downside is that you pay high end for drinks, we had 2 Coffees with Brandy and charged £27 not really worth that, have...

I took my friend for a birthday treat. It was a chilli afternoon and on arrival it was just lovely to see the large fires alight, it was very welcoming. We were seated next to a window with spectacular views. The decor was delightful. The food was very well presented and delicious. The staff were very attentive and nothing was...

My wife and I recently had a couple of nights stay in this lovely hotel. We stayed in Wisteria and had a lovely large room, with 4-poster bed and large bathroom. We also had dinner in the restaurant on one of the evenings and had a delicious meal. Service was excellent throughout.
