My host, the charming Lady of the house, was friendly and helpful at all times. The room was beautifully furnished with some really personal items that made me feel like I was at a home where I would like to live. I enjoyed a really nice breakfast both days and had very interesting conversation that was most informative on life... More

We stayed at The Coach House in December last year and enjoyed our stay in beautiful Winchester very much. I was a bit worried about going after reading some of the reviews but I'm really pleased we went. Mary squeezed us in when we couldn't find anywhere else to stay. The house is beautiful and Mary was very friendly during... More

So it's not just us! We were made to feel unwelcome from the moment the front door opened. We were referred to as 'him and her' by the landlady when she was talking in our presence to her husband. We were warned as if we were schoolchildren about minding the decor, because "we've just spent a lot of money on... More

Lovely house and the landlady's husband was very pleasant and helpful. Sadly that is where the positive comments stop and the negative ones begin as listed below:- 1. We called to confirm we would be a little late due to delays on our 170 mile journey and were told by the landlady that she was expecting us at 2.30 (exactly?)... More

It is difficul to feel relaxed here. On arrival, I was told to leave my shoes in the boot room. I did that. Next morning I went down to breakfast with just tights covering my feet (thinking I was observing the shoe rule) and was asked pointedly whether I had found the slippers provided, the tone of the question made... The house is in a lovely quiet residential street about 15 minutes walk from Winchester town hall. Our room was great, quiet, good shower, the bed was super comfortable. Will definitely stay at the Coach House again.

The room and ensuite were spotless with lots of space, and the bed and bed linen of high quality, but this did not make up for a very disappointing stay. On arrival the hostess had no recollection of the booking, or that we requested a twin room. I am disabled and wear a built up shoe, but was still expected... More

This would suit anyone with a hankering for a boarding school experience. Beautiful house, tastefully decorated, but short on a genuine welcome. The main concern of the owners seemed to be whether we had taken our shoes off. We were also rather surprised when, whilst we were out for our evening meal, the owners had let themselves into 'our' room... More

I am always sure to review The Coach House after every stay, because I really feel that praise is deserved for this lovely B&B! As ever, the house is spotless and beautifully decorated throughout, breakfast delicious and plentiful, and Mrs LTB very accommodating. Highly recommend staying here, you won't find a more comfortable stay!

Our friend stayed for 2 nights & he found his bedroom to be excellent, clean & comfortable but the house rules were bizarre ie. shoes off & locked away in a room off the hall (maybe guests in the past had slipped away without paying??!) The owner informed him that she went to bed at 9pm so he would have... More

This review has been submitted after six months and not by the person who stayed. Yes, I do ask visitors to take their shoes off and put them in the boot room before walking through the house. The boot room is not locked (it does not have a lock) and guests can take their shoes any time. The gentleman who... More
