Visited with family and dogs and had a really good lunch. If you are staying at Blackwood Forrest this is definitely the better of the nearby pub options over the dove inn. Food is versatile with a causal sandwich menu and a more hearty menu with some great specials. We changed our booking time by 30 mins and staff were...

What a lovely place, in a superb, quiet location. I slept peacefully, had a fabulous breakfast, and enjoyed the area very much. Staff are friendly, and the whole place feels welcoming, low-key, but comfortable and charming. Proper fire in the 'snug' room. Delightful! What more could one want for a restorative break deep in the Hampshire countryside?

We stayed two nights. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The food was very good indeed - more than pub grub. The breakfast was also very generous as well. The room was comfortable although the heating was a bit sporadic and the plumbing is a bit old fashioned. The place could do with some updating although it may lose...

We have just paid our second visit to this lovely pub. My daughter is vegetarian and the meal on offer was not suitable due to an allergy. The chef prepared a meal just for her which she really enjoyed. All our meals were great and the service attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely go back. They said if we ring...

We enjoyed two nights in this lovely country inn and were very pleased with the room and facilities. A great bar where we were made to feel most welcome amongst the locals. Great full English breakfast and we also had a very good dinner on each night of our stay with good service by the staff. Location is good for...

Lovely country pub in a quiet rural village with thatched cottages. My daughter and I stayed in a large twin room with en suite shower room. Enjoyed a tasty traditional evening meal of sausage&mash and ham, egg&chips. Very efficient friendly service. Comfortable beds. Full English Breakfast was served promptly having been ordered the night before. Also cereal and toast. There were...

Staying nearby for a few days, we chose this lovely pub for lunch one Thursday when the weather was not conducive for walking. Excellent choice and although very busy we were given a table almost immediately in the bar area. There was just the one lady serving and she was amazing, friendly and so efficient. The food was superb (fish...

Pleasant pub, with dated accommodation. Evening meal was good and the staff were pleasant. I wanted to pay for the meal and two pints I had separately as I was there on business and do not like to charge to the company account meals and drinks. The landlord explained it would be no issue and that he would prepare me...

Thank you for your review - in the interests of clarity, the bill presented to you in the morning was for a '2 adult occupancy' because you had booked a '2 adult occupancy' - this was very politely explained to you that morning. The £10 refund was processed straight away but takes 2 working days due to the 3rd party...

Fantastic little find on a quick overnight stopover while passing through the area. Really quick check in with a very friendly staff member. Showed me to a big comfortable room with all the required facilities. Although I didn't have dinner, the pub and restaurant was busy and looked lovely. Only comment I have was the need for ordering breakfast the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Northbrook Arms - a traditional village pub with letting rooms. The pub itself is owned by Lord Northbrook and has been part of his family estate for generations. We are situated in the idyllic village of East Stratton just minutes from the A33 between Winchester and Basingstoke. The pub boasts two gardens – the green opposite the pub which is perfect for catching the sun all day long, and the pretty country garden to the side of the pub which has an enclosed area at the bottom where children can play safely. We also have a traditional Skittle Alley in the beautiful old stables – with its own bar, space for dining and of course the Skittles – it is the perfect place to have a party or function. ... more   less
