I've been going here for ten years. But today's visit was not good. It was supposed to be a special meal for us, but it wasn't. The food was Ok but overpriced. For example, the "main" of hake was the tiniest piece of fish, with tiny bits of broccoli and bacon, and no potatoes or anything substantial, for £18.50. It... More

This tavern is living history, a great place to stay and the staff can't do enough for you. Food is very good and a good selection to choose from. Rooms are very nice and well laid out good size, the rooms are modern but have history to them as well, would and will be staying here again.

The location was great, and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was good, however with no air conditioning we roasted at night, and the open windows meant we were entertained by local revellers at 2am.

Didn't stay at hotel as we are local. We had heard so much about the food at the white star we wanted to try it for ourselves. After eating a 3 course I have to say it is the most enjoyable meal I have ever had.Forget pie a and chips or any of the other pub grub this meal was lovingly... More

Great little hotel and bar for overnight or weekend stays. The room was bigger than expected and very nice. The staff were very helpful and even booked a taxi for us to go out and meet friends at another location. Great value for money and the full English breakfast was well worth it. Parking is on the street (pay and... More

We stayed two nights at the White Star and found the staff to be very friendly, and the food in the restaurant was wonderful. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 stars is there was no A/C and it was unseasonable warm for there, so the 3rd floor got a bit hot. Additionally, though the staff was gracious... More

We spent one night before a ship tour in this friendly comfortable Hotel/restaurant The staff went out of their way to be helpful and the welcome and service were really good. The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. To be honest we weren't over impressed with Southampton on the whole but this location in lively Oxford St... More

Stayed here for one night, whilst doing a sailing course. The room I stayed in was called the Titanic so you can imagine my trepidation. However, I needn't have worried, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and up to date and the food in the restaurant was really very good indeed. Would have liked a... It is difficult to check in and check out of this hotel. The manager doubles up serving in the restaurant and you have to wait until he has noticed you and has finished. At check out, no one manned the small upstairs desk so we gave up and left a written message for the amount on a pre authorised card.... More

Wow and not in a good way! Late breakfast with my wife and I had eggs benedict and I'm wide had poached eggs on toast, we waited nearly 15 minutes for our tea to arrive, our food came out just after and my bagel has no butter on it all so had to ask for that, when we cut into... More
