Friendly hosts. We ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant and everything was fresh and delicious. We are vegetarians and sometimes have a difficult time finding vegetarian, so we were glad to see their menu included vegetarian options. The red lentils dish was particularly good. Also, don’t miss the scones with berries and cream and their delicious coffee. Our room was beautiful and with a very comfortable bed as well being extremely quiet. To be in a city but not hear a pin drop at night was just amazing. As nature lovers, we were delighted there was a nice park to walk to which we did several times. They pre arranged transportation for us to the cruise port was so appreciated.

Slightly off the beaten track, so I had not previously noticed this place. It's a hotel with a bar serving one cask ( on my visit). The bar is clean, and has been recently refurbished, but has a Seventies feel. It somehow works inside an older building. There's an attractive beer garden area. It's an ok place, albeit feeling more like a hotel lobby than a pub. Food only in the evening. OK place if you're local and don't want to walk further for a proper pub, but not a place I would otherwise recommend as worth seeking out.

Hi Steve P, It is such a shame that you feel we have only earned a 3 star review during your stay. We do try to make each guests visit a 5 star experience. Im not sure where the seventies feel comes from but that is an interesting take on our renovation as we aimed for a modern contemporary concept. Since taking over the property 3 years ago we have worked hard to move away from a pub feel and are moving towards contemporary boutique accommodation that services both our in-house guests and locals alike. We do serve Breakfast every morning with a full buffet continental and hot cooked to order ala carte menu, along with lunch 2 days a week and dinner service 6 nights a week including full room service. Im not sure what 1 cask means as our full service bar has 5 on tap beers, ales and ciders along with an extensive wine, spirit and cocktail menu to suit our restaurant cuisine. There are many proper pubs surrounding our area so we leave that customer base to them as its what they are good at and as mentioned we are moving towards boutique accommodation for more corporate, cruising guests and tourists to southampton. In summer 2020 we will be launching a new brand, image and name to finally move away from the pub excpectiation. We do truly appreciate your feedback and although it was not what you expected I do believe this is due to your expectation that we where a pub. Hopefully you will return and visit us again maybe when you are on holidays. Regards The Blue Keys Team.

On a visit to Southampton we chose this hotel, it is a 15 to 20 minute stroll to the centre of Southampton. The Hotel is very clean and the staff are lovely, the room was very adequate for our 2 night stay, we where on the first floor. ( Please note no lift no problem for us) but might be for some people. The breakfast was excellent superb choice of cooked breakfasts and continental breakfasts as well. Would definitely stay here again thank you. Martin & Margaret

I booked this hotel for myself and my mum en-route to a cruise ship. We both really enjoyed our stay here and had a very pleasant evening. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. Our large suitcases were stored securely on check-in, so we didn't need to take them to our room. Being on the top floor as we had requested a twin room, there were several sets of stairs to climb, but I already knew this when I'd researched the hotel and it wasn't a problem. Our room was very clean and the beds extremely comfortable. We booked a table in the restaurant and the food was exceptional. Our evening was made even more enjoyable by a lovely solo artist singing by the bar. We will definitely be booking here again when we go our next cruise!!!!

Stepping inside this place offered a pleasant surprise. An updated comfy little hotel. Rooms were well presented and Breakfast and Dinner was excellent rated amongst our best that we had in our 3 week stay travelling around England. The location was an easy walk to Central Station, convenience stores and various other cafes etc As we extended for an additional night we stayed on the 1st level and 2nd level and we were happy with either. We will be recommending to any of friends travelling to Southampton
