We arrived on the Friday of the Spring Bank Holiday. We were warmly welcomed and told to choose any pitch we liked. The site is huge with three toilet/shower blocks which are regularly serviced. There's plenty of hot water and they are beautifully clean. There is a shop that has a good stock of the basics and useful things for... More

Seemed quite busy when we arrived but quickly checked in at reception, very helpful lady in reception explained everything and pointed in the right direction for the camping area that would suit our needs. We choose the field further away and were spoils for areas to pitch. Still close to the shower block and reception but far enough for relaxation.... More

We arrived on a very busy night bearing in mind there are 600 pitches. The staff throughout the site were very welcoming, friendly & helpful. There is some free reign on where you pitch depending on how busy it is. You can find some secluded spots to suit. The facilities are fairly clean & nearby to most pitches. The location... More

What a lovely campsite. Super friendly and helpful staff, great facilities including showers/toilets and sinks to wash pots. The facilities were generally really clean. The campsite is short drive from the beach and local villages, and had beautiful surroundings including the horses. We was impressed and looking at booking again soon! Best campsite I have been to so far.

Just arrived home from a 3 night stay. I have to say i am impressed with this site. Toilets and showers are very clean and with 3 separate shower blocks there is never a wait and believe me this weekend was a busy one. The location of this site is very scenic and and at an ideal location for visiting... More

This is a big and brilliant campsite in the New Forest. Excellent facilities and very friendly staff. The shop is very well equipped and even organises deliveries from a butcher if you take your meat seriously. Great for cycling.

Had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Holmsley campsite off peak. The site is a good size and didn't feel cramped during school term. The toilets/showers/dishwashing areas were well maintained and clean. The shop/reception was really well stocked and reasonably priced. There is a takeaway service but since it all closed at 6pm, it wasn't much use after a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Holmsley is a campsite steeped in history. Occupying part of what used to be Holmsley Airfield in the Second World War, it is one of 12 wartime airfields and Advanced Landing Grounds in the New Forest. Indeed, the aircraft hard standings and taxiways are now the campsite roads and parking spots! The site is predominantly grass, meaning there is a lot of space for the children to play. It also offers direct access to forest walks and safe cycling tracks; ideal for exploring the local flora and fauna with the whole family. Onsite there is a fully equipped shop that sells a wide range of groceries, camping essentials and games to ensure that your holiday runs as smoothly as possible. There is also an excellent take away; perfect after a busy day exploring the forest and when you want to put your feet up in your tent and relax. Opening time will vary throughout the season. Next to the site there is a large heathland which is fantastic for a spot of nature watching. Free-roaming ponies, cattle and deer are frequent visitors, and you might see squirrels, badgers and foxes if you are lucky. New Forest woodlands are thought by the locals to be at their very best in the autumn, during the annual Pannage season. At this time the forest turns crimson and gold and echoes to the sound of rutting deer. Holmsley is close to several stunning beaches including Barton on Sea, with Bournemouth and Poole just a drive away. Premium pitches are available onsite, and there are also toilets, showers and a launderette available. Please remember to bring your rock pegs for this site. Due to the low level of lighting campers must pitch up before dark. Pitch types at Holmsley There are 600 pitches at Holmsley, made up of standard and premium pitch types.
