Having booked a double room for 3 nights last weekend, I was shocked at the state of the room we were given. The wallpaper was peeling, the window locks were broken, the décor was ancient along with a shower room with mould. I would not stay here again if I was offered it for free!

If you care to take a trip back in time to what was probably a fifties hotel apart from the Eighties border adorning the wall I don't think much has changed. Soft mattress stuffy room meant a sleepless night. The saving grace was the pleasant breakfast served by pleasant staff. Definitely a hotel crying out for upgrading even fresh paint... More

It is a very old hotel with creaky floors and very uncomfortable mattress. Also, one of the windows in our room was broken, and the noise at night was unbearable (it is located in a very busy area, especially at the weekend). There were several sockets broken and the toilet made noises even without flushing it . I would not... More

Hotel smells and feels like an old peoples home. There are bare wires everywhere, an overpowering smell of bleach, terrible views, horrible location, pigeons everywhere, dead and alive, awful car park (my car was damaged during our one night stay, and parking cost £4 overnight). The room was disgusting, plug sockets falling out of the walls, buzzing electrics, no slats... More

Very clean, dated, no frills hotel. Our lovely room was like a visit to the past, a four poster bed with all vintage if not antique furniture. Lovely hot water and a very nice metal bath. Nearly every floorboard had its own creak even the bathroom door had its own squeak. I really enjoyed staying here and had a comfortable... More

Stayed for one night. Room was large with onsuite and clean. Historic building so there are bits and pieces not up to date. But most important it was clean, staff was friendly. We didn't had breakfast so can't judge on it, but it smelled lovely and was well presented,as we had to leave the hotel through the breakfast room. Would... More

Rude receptionist didn't make a great start (having said that other staff we can across were all friendly, she must have just been having. Bad day) The oldest, hottest, low budget hotel I've ever stayed in and not cheap either Won't be visiting again

Good quality rooms. Me and my family also opted for breakfast, which was extra, but included in the price we paid for the rooms. The staff was very friendly, providing us with all the information we needed. We stayed there for 4 nights in mid July and it was a hot period for UK overall, but that was not a... More

While the hotel is dated, no-frills, it provides a friendly and reliable service for those looking for a clean and comfortable bed for the night. The hotel has a traditional and lively bar, and an extensive menu of home cooking. The staff were helpful and polite. The room had everything you expect from a decent hotel, with good tv and... Although the hotel is not new it has a fantastic location for walking to the old part of the city. Staff was so friendly and eager to help. We were waiting in the lobby one day, just resting, and the Owner brought us tea! Highly recommend for these reasons.
