I have to admit, I booked a room here, then looked at the trip advisor average rating and reviews and wondered what i'd let myself in for. However, what you MUST remember is that this hotel is very very cheap. It could charge its room price for location alone! I just can't understand why people are paying a mere £50...

Thank you for a lovely stay. Hotel was a little dated but what do you expect - we didn't come expecting the feel of the jury's or travel lodge - just needed a base to sleep while we had a couple of days enjoying the city. Great location 2 mins walk from west quay and all the restaurants and bars....

This hotel is situated in the perfect place - 15 mins to trainstation / few mins to shopping centre , loads of restaurants . The room was small but very comfortable . Staff was helpful and gave us everything we asked for. We both enjoyed our stay.

I stayed for 1 night and was put in the cosy single. Bed was very comfy and room spotlessly clean. Everything you need was there TV,tea, coffee, iron, toiletries and a fan ,no hairdryer but available at reception. Staff at check in very friendly, free wifi was poor, car park small and always full. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment. I found the toilet...

We arrived in Southampton around midday, and it was no trouble for us to park up and leave our bags at the hotel, while we went off and did some shopping. I had booked a Cosy Double for our stay, but when we checked in, we had been upgraded to a lovely big room with two double beds in it!...

Parking on site at £4.00 plus free wi-fi make this a good 3* hotel for a short stay. My room (#3) was only a short walk from reception and a single. I didn't have breakfast. Staff were helpful. Wi-fi was a bit iffy in my room.

I have never left a review before but feel compelled to after an appalling stay at the Star Hotel. As others have commented, the decor is looking very tired and dated. I initially stayed in Room 11. It was noisy at night due to some form of air circulation fan continually switching on/off every few minutes. The cold water tap...

We stayed for just 1 night and this quirky hotel suited us perfectly as it was centrally located and very reasonably priced. Yes, it was dated (looks like it was last redecorated in the 70's) but we loved the quirkiness. Positives: Friendly staff and the room itself was clean, the bed comfortable and we were provided with better room toiletries...

Room clean, fairly comfortable although creaking floorboards. Shower didn't work. Radiator didn't work. Evidence of previous water leak in the ceiling. The entire place in much need of TLC. Reception. No written receipts given, no information about local area. We were not informed on arrival that we would not be able to dine in the hotel that evening due to...
