This was the only hotel available in my work budget and there certainly is a reason for that. The hotel is centrally located and the staff very pleasant. The hotel itself is run down and really shabby, the room I had was on the top floor and it was a spacious room and clean. The windows are flimsy which means... More

I loved my stay at the Star. Its quaint and querky and a few bits of paint missing here and there but more dedicated hard working staff you wouldn't find anywhere else. Its worth noting that the hotel is still independently owned and managed by Gaie who is very much still hands on and who has resisted the temptation to turn... More

I have been staying at Hotels and B&B's all my life. I go away a lot. But I have never stayed in a place that had NO SOAP. Most other places provide not only soap but little sachets or bottles of shampoo/body wash. I asked one of the staff if it was an oversight but they said no it is... More

Arrived at this hotel receptionist tried to over charge only my email to confirm price and booking. The room was dirty and had a number of beds and a really filthy leather sofa, the carpet was stained and the thought of us getting into bed gave me the creeps, linen on bed had stains? I never complain, we only needed... More

The room was very large but had put you up beds with poor bed linen that was not even ironed. The room looked like a hostel with very scruffy sofas. The only decent part was the bathroom which had obviously been refurbished but it had no mirror. The staff were good, friendly and welcoming except the member if staff serving... More

The hotel was right in the middle of the Old Town and close to eating places, big shopping centres and cruise terminals. Room was adequate, reception helpfulness. Lift to first floor, then down some stairs, then up some stairs along sloping corridor to room- interesting.

I stayed at this hotel with my hen party just for a place to sleep after our night out. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and the whole check-in process was smooth. We had a little trouble finding our rooms as the hotel is based in an old building with a windy layout, however we found the rooms... More

Having booked a double room for 3 nights last weekend, I was shocked at the state of the room we were given. The wallpaper was peeling, the window locks were broken, the décor was ancient along with a shower room with mould. I would not stay here again if I was offered it for free!

If you care to take a trip back in time to what was probably a fifties hotel apart from the Eighties border adorning the wall I don't think much has changed. Soft mattress stuffy room meant a sleepless night. The saving grace was the pleasant breakfast served by pleasant staff. Definitely a hotel crying out for upgrading even fresh paint... More
