Right next to the bus station and railway station. This hotel is great for its location, customer care and value for money. It is not modern, it is an ancient hotel stuck in the 1970's. If you covet carpet in the bathroom , thus is the place for you!. It is also very clean and the breakfast is great. If you... More

Arrived here for a 2 day stay before going on to France. I have travelled a lot but NEVER been greeted with a beggar sitting on the entrance steps to the hotel! Needless to say we did not stay after we saw the room. To say shabby is being kind . The man on duty was very polite but how... More

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The place is very shabby in appearance, rooms in need of redecorating and a bathroom that needs demolishing. We had a room on the front, whilst the view of the dock s interesting, it was noisy due to the railway station and bus station below us, did... More

Stayed here as the usual hotels were full or too pricey. In its favour is the historic nature of the hotel, the traditional style of the hotel - it's got a 1930's feel to it. The bar has character too, and the staff are friendly. It has a tired feel to it and won't be to everyone's liking - it... More

We stayed for one night at the Keppels Head and loved it. Don't expect posh or boutique here. It's an old building and it is very tired and in need of some tlc, but it's full of character and has an interesting history. The rooms we had were at the front of the building and had good views of the... More

Well where to start. Recently visited the hotel as my friend was getting married on HMS Warrior which is about 200mtrs away. Part of my consideration was the distance from venue to my bed with drink taken to quote the Irish! Hotel: Everyone on this site has stated that it needs some TLC and this is a serious bit of... Very clean, huge room but sadly dated and a bit scruffy. Still in 1980's but it must be a hard task to maintain as it is a very old building. Must have been splendid when first built. Staff from League of Gentlemen but pleasant!! Adequate breakfast. This is VERY close to the Mary Rose and Victory and quite cheap so... More

Super staff and very friendly, nice breakfast, on-site parking, great location being so close to train and bus hubs, the excellent Historic Dockyard and the equally excellent Gunquay Wharf shopping complex. Lovely big high ceilinged rooms give a clue as to what a classy establishment this must have once been, it has somewhat fallen from those heights now with some... More

Lovely old hotel we were made very welcome. Staff were very helpful with good knowledge of the area. The Breakfast was great value and served in a lovely ornate dining room. Excellent location for train, ferries, buses, shopping at Gunwharf Quay and the historic dockyard. The bedroom was very spacious although it was tired. All in all an excellent stay and... More

The bedrooms are dated and in need of TLC but the bed was comfy it was clean and had everything I needed. The welcome on reception was excellent and service in the bar was very good also. The breakfast room is lovely and the choice and quality of the breakfast is excellent apart from being a bit tired I cannot... More
