En route to Le Mans Classic. Had the most comfortable of nights in lovely surroundings prior to catching the ferry to Caen. Alex got up at the crack of dawn to make us a magnificent cooked breakfast. Alex is a world class authority on Admiral Lord Nelson by the way. This B&B is highly recommended.

Just back from a one night stay. Cannot fault it. Clean, tidy, comfortable, excellent room, excellent breakfast. Beautiful old house, full of charm. The hosts cannot be faulted either. AND no need to even take your own toiletries!!!!!! We will definitely be going back as soon as possible.

I stayed in Lombard house for a couple of days in the summer. The house is beautiful and excellently maintained, and full of historical items (the most striking of which are the sword collection and the accurate and fully functional replica of Admiral Nelson's uniform) which I personally found intensely interesting. Alex is a wonderful host; he is welcoming, extremely... More

Very charming house, comfortable room and bed. Wonderful host and great English breakfast. The host is an encyclopaedia of history facts and it was a thrill to talk with him. I wish I had had more time. Will certainly be back

We stayed at Lombard house in July for the Americas Cup. All aspects of our stay exceeded expectations from Alex’s warm welcome and great conversation throughout, the house and our room, the excellent breakfast, et al. Alex, Lombard House will be first choice for our next visit.

This B&B is wonderfully located near historic Portsmouth. Alex, the owner, is a wonderfully friendly and helpful fellow who knows an extraordinary amount of the history of Portsmouth and, especially, Admiral Nelson.

I had a last minute change of ferry booking, so needed a one night stay in Portsmouth and chose Lombard House from the reviews here. So pleased I did. A little old fashioned, but only in a quaint way, as it had everything you could want and bags of character. Also, the loveliest owners ever - really friendly, passionate about... More

Very welcoming and well placed in Old Portsmouth. On street parking wasn't a problem. Not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with narrow steep stairs as the 2 bedrooms are on the top floor and breakfast is served in the basement (which has a low ceiling). I should have asked for non allergic pillows as the feather pillows set my... More
