Due to extremely poor communication from a concierge and receptionist during registration I ended up with a parking ticket in the morning. I work in communications thus extremely competent in understanding consequences with poor communication. When I wrote to the GM requesting that it be paid , he called my dismeanour. Their parking bays after the event shows please obtain... More

Although being a 3-star, no frills hotel, and in need of some refurbishing, this place has a traditional friendly feel to it. The location is a perfect one for those who love to shop, being only 5-minutes away from Gunwharf Quays and the dockyard and about an 8-minute walk from Commercial Road. Breakfast was abundant, and staff went out of... More

Every member of staff that I met were so helpful, kind. Special mention to the ladies in the restaurant and staff at reception. Room 401 which is adapted for the disabled was perfect in every detail, with electric rise and recline bed and perfect wet room. It also provided a lovely bedroom for my career and a separate shower for... More

We got married at the Royal Maritime club yesterday. The day couldn't have been more perfect. All our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and completed the organisation from the Royal Maritime club. Nothing was too much trouble and the day ran so smoothly without any glitches. The staff were attentive, polite and professional at all times. A special thank you to... More

Within short walk of Gunwharf Quays and the naval dockyard. So very conveniently situated. Lovely entrance lobby and impressive reception, lounge, library and round balcony. Not your usual cardboard international hotel. However once you take the lift, everything looks tired. Needs investment. The room was quiet, clean and spacious, but bathroom sink was cracked and some enamel had come off... More

From the moment I checked in, until my departure, everything about this stay was good. Throughout, the staff were looking to be helpful; on reception, about the hotel and in the restaurant they were polite and friendly without being intrusive. The room was clean and spacious, and, although it could have done with air conditioning; with a fan provided (without... More

A fantastic breakfast it has to be said. Plenty of choices and good value. Arriving at your room when the key doesn't work isn't a good start. When the reception knew there was an issue beforehand, that just makes it worse. Parking was outside the hotel at a cost of £2.50 a day. A Council controlled zone but should have... More

We booked through an advert we had seen in the magazine Warship fleet review, a special deal 2 nights stay and a ticket for the attractions to the Dockyard. This is the only reason we booked, we were upgraded to a "superior" room as these were all they had for the dates we wanted. The room although large had no... More

The good things about the Club are those that the name suggests. It still has a club-line atmosphere; the bar is popular and there is still a library. If you are visiting Portsmouth it is well positioned for the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf. Breakfasts are good and ample, our room was fine (superior) and the bed was comfortable. The staff... We stayed here for one night before going to Goodwood for the Festival of Speed. Booked here for closeness to the centre and not much else was available. THE GOOD The good thing about this hotel is its proximity to the naval museum and town centre shopping / bay side restaurants which are all a short walk. It's not the... More
