By journeying through the rolling hills and rural beauty of the Cotswolds, you reach one of the most acclaimed Cotswold luxury hotels. Lords of the Manor is the perfect destination for guests looking for a truly enchanting getaway. A country house experience will always surpass all other Cotswold accommodation. Allowing guests to enjoy a true home away from home during their getaway, the authenticity of taking up residence in a country house, no matter how long for, is what makes a Cotswold stay unforgettable. Privately owned for 17 years, Lords of the Manor has always put guests at the forefront of all that we do. Our team is adept at delivering exceptional service, there is no comparison to other stays you may have had elsewhere. With beautiful feature views of the gardens, the village of Upper Slaughter and the surrounding Cotswolds hills, each of the rooms in our charming Country House Hotel are individually furnished and decorated, making them only space you need during your getaway. Our 17th-century hotel is in the unspoiled Cotswold village of Upper Slaughter, between Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold. The walk between Upper and Lower Slaughter is often called the best short walk in the Cotswolds – it showcases all that is loved most about the area. It’s not difficult to see why we were recently named as the Good Hotel Guide’s best Hotel with Gardens; set in 8 acres of lawns and grandiose gardens, our Cotswold hotel dates back to 1649 and the honey coloured stone of the manor instantly evokes nostalgia for decadent pastimes - without compromising on modern comforts.

We have been big f ans and regular visitors to LOTM over the last few years. We still love the rooms and the location. The service and the food however are now somewhat haphazard. For £2,500 for a three day stay burnt eggs and forgotten toast at breakfast are disappointing. As are "bake at home" baguettes offered as bread, and having to wander around the hotel to find staff to serve drinks and take orders. This has fallen from previous dizzy heights

Visited for one night for a special celebration, reception staff were lovely delivering luggage to our room and valet parking the car . Reception checked my prior notification of dietary requirements. Beautiful old Manor House large well kept grounds which we wandered around and sat on the patio in glorious sunshine (yes this was 6th March!) we had pre booked the taster menu which was of a high standard waiting staff again checked my dietary requirements, pity the chef chose to ignore my requests and just served unsuitable dishes! Many other reviews say of Michelin star standard, but I must disagree the attention to detail is sadly lacking. One waitress was excellent the rest let the side down, without exception all restaurants we have visited both Michelin star and AA rosette (10 in the last few months)have easily catered for my requirements so why can’t Lords of the Manor?

We are disappointed to see this is now your third review of your stay with us, but you have not responded to us privately regarding your stay. We are sorry your Atrium experience was not to your satisfaction. We are however surprised by this and your comments about our 'unsympathetic kitchen'. We did confirm with you verbally regarding the dietary information you gave of ‘no excessive amounts of cream’, as we found this vague and could be subjective. Following confirming with you about what you’d avoid we discussed this with our Head Chef and then discussed the menu with you before commencing service. As you were happy with the menu discussed, we did not think further changes needed to be made. You also only gave positive feedback on check-out and so your reviews are very unexpected. Our kitchen team make accommodations for all dietary requirements, and take doing so very seriously. If you had confirmed that you were unable to eat anything on the menu, it of course would have been changed. Once again we ask that if there has been a misunderstanding of what you required, please do contact Hanna at deputygm@lordsofthemanor.com to discuss further.

The enchanting Lords of the Manor and the walks with my puppy Maple through the rolling hills gave me such a homely feeling…! The beautiful classic decor and warmth from the staff really made me want to extend my stay. Hanna and Flávio were fantastic, attentive, very helpful, engaging and efficient with any request we had during our stay. There are a lot of luxury beautiful Hotels out there but staff definitely makes the difference! The amazing treatment was very well received by our dog aswell, a lovely lady in reception (I believe from South Africa) offered to help us clean Maple’s muddy paws after the country walk and made her feel welcome and at home. Thank you Lords of the Manor Team for making our stay memorable, we cannot wait to come back for another lovely weekend getaway.

We went for an afternoon tea and what a treat it was! The hotel is beautiful and the grounds and garden stunning. We were given a choice of three rooms in which we could sit, the restaurant, the bar or the sitting room. We chose the sitting room and were on sofas next to the window overlooking the lawn, just gorgeous. The tea was exceptional, a great selection of sandwiches and cakes, a lovely savoury tart and two scones each. I gave it my best go but couldn’t finish it all, there is an option to have any food you don’t manage boxed up and also the opportunity to upgrade with a glass of champagne. The team were lovely, the receptionist very welcoming and the barman very attentive and charming. We will be returning in the summer to enjoy the gardens when they are in bloom and have afternoon tea again. The Lords of the Manor is not the cheapest afternoon tea you can get in the area but is worth every penny. Highly , highly recommended.

Goodness this was a surprise. We booked the tasting menu, without any real expectations. It was superb. Easily Michelin star quailty. Little did we know that the chef has worked in a 3 star Michelin resto in New York. The sommelier, Carl, was fantastic as well. Really unbeatable quality for the price. The rooms were huge, the bed as well. All in a most charming area of the Cotswolds. I'm not sure I should be sharing all this! I'm definitely coming back soon.
