We have been to the Lords of the Manor on several occasions now for lunch and have never been disappointed. It is one of our favourite hotels. The rural location and setting is delightful and we are always so well looked after. The food and drink is of a very high standard and quality presented in a highly professional manner and our pre-Christmas lunch was no exception. We felt very relaxed despite covid-19 restrictions being in place as there is plenty of room, being an old style manor house. There was always significant amounts of spacing between the tables in the restaurant in pre-covid days. Our only disappointment whilst we were there, was to hear that the government was to close the hotel yet again - it had only been open for 3 weeks since the last lockdown. My hope for all those involved with the hotel is that once it is allowed to re-open, it never has to close down again owing to government lockdowns.…
From our experience we feel this deserves a rating somewhat above 'average' but certainly not 'very good'. We received a warm and professional welcome and the staff were generally very good and helpful. The room was good in which everything worked. Location is great and quiet. Breakfast was excellent. The small past additions were no longer; no canapes with cocktails, no petit-fours with coffee, dinner was just OK which perhaps is perhaps felt to be fine by the denim and T shirt wearing diners who appeared more interested in their phones than their dining experience. A happy visit due largely to the charming staff and management but it is not quite as it was.
I purchased a voucher for a night at Lords of the manor for my partner's birthday present. With the lockdown restrictions we had to rebook our stay, but this meant we got to visit this week and enjoy a night away before Christmas. Proactive and quick to respond to emails/phone calls regarding rearrangements. We had a warm greeting on arrival and all Covid measures were explained to us. We had dinner booked and this did not disappoint. Fantastic food with lots of different options on the table d’hote menu (some had a supplement charge). Extensive bar menu with various cocktails on offer as well as wines and we took advantage of our free (included with our voucher) glass of prosecco. They offered either breakfast in the restaurant or our room (at no extra charge - another covid measure I am assuming). Again lots of options for breakfast - full English, continental, teas, coffees, juices. We decided to go for room service and ordered the evening before for a time convenient for us. Breakfast arrived on time after a phone call to let us know it was on its way from the kitchen. Our room was large and modern with nice touches - bottles of still and sparkling water, biscuits, elderflower presse as well as normal tea and coffee facilities. Large bathroom with large bath with overhead rainfall shower and separate sprayer. Lovely hot water - just right for a nice bath after a long walk. Beautiful grounds and surrounding area with lots of walk options.…
Arrived after long walk for a refreshing coffee and cake break. Full covid precaution temps taken and shown into a side room. And left.... no-one came to ask us what we would like to order. Due to restrictions and unfamiliar with layout of the hotel, we waited 20mins before someone 'came across' us. Almost shocked we were there. Asked us what we wanted, returned with menus and then never came back. Was made to feel that our walking attire didn't fit with their other clientele. Having been shown to a side room, we were completely ignored. If this is how walkers are treated, I wouldn't recommend.
We have stayed here before, but quite sometime ago. This time we only went for afternoon tea as dining is mainly limited to residents during the current restrictions. Tea was perfect in beautiful surroundings with highly efficient friendly staff. We were shown around the hotel and clearly the very high standards have been maintained. It is still the hotel by which we judge all others
