The hotel is in a very old historical building, dating from the 16th century, in the centre of Tetbury. Recently refurbished, the furnishings are elegant and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is really good. We had a very enjoyable few days, using the hotel as a base to explore the Cotswolds

We first stayed at The Close last October and were very impressed, so we decided to go back last weekend when we celebrated our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. Our room was lovely and spacious with a huge four poster bed, great bathroom and a lovely view over the garden. Again, the hotel staff in all departments were...

Friendly staff. Great location and fantastic food. We Have just returned from an overnight stay and will be looking to return again soon. We enjoyed the Eight course tasting menu and wine pairings which although a little expensive was well worth trying. The new waiter will soon learn the menu and will be able to give more information as to...

The first thing you see when entering from the street is a welcoming log fire opposite the front door. The geography inside takes some getting used to, since the reception is a few twists and turns away, but the welcome was warm and I was taken to my room (free upgrade to a "suite"). I wasn't quite sure what this...

We hired The Close's private room for a family birthday in February 2017. We found the staff helpful leading up to the event and on the day things went very smoothly. The food was excellent - everyone around the table was full of compliments for all their courses. Service was prompt and all the meals warm (even though the kitchen...

I stayed there for 1 night and the room was nice and cozy. Bathroom was much bigger than I expected. This hotel provides you night hours sandwiches which is good for someone checkin late. Breakfast has similar variety which all 5 start hotel provides. The only point which concerned me was the wifi, it was too slow like 2G. I...

Met here for lunch with friends at their suggestion. We arrived early so enjoyed coffee in the bar area which was busy with locals having morning coffee. We all chose the set menu offering two or three courses. We all chose ham hock Ballantine with black pudding beignet followed by pan fried sea bream with gnocchi, chorizo and parsley, enjoyed...

Booked through Mr and Mrs Smith for a night away with my partner. Cons: The staff who checked us in were abrasive and almost rude. Not quite the friendly country welcome we were expecting! We had lunch in the brasserie, the tables were dirty. Black pudding, sea bream and risotto were excellent. Avoid the smoked salmon starter. The bar is...

We came here for our anniversary at the end of January and it was lovely. Unfortunately there had been a confusion with the booking a few weeks earlier so our room was downgraded but the manager was so hospitable, fully refunded the excess, ensured we still had a room looking over the garden and gave us a complimentary bottle of...
