Stayed for the night and had dinner. We did not stay for breakfast. Overall very good. Comfortable bed and bedroom. Dinner was good. We chose simple food at reasonable prices. Best thing about stay was the fabulous welcome we received by the manager. Professional, enthusiastic and friendly.

We love love loved this hotel. Everything was fantastic, service, rooms, staff, restaurant...We had our 19 month old baby with us for 4 nights, and they were super accommodating, crib, changing station, diaper genie in the room and warm milk anytime. The restaurant was great, good food and wines. We definitely would go back.

What to do on a wet Friday, ah, try this new hotel. Which we did.Lovely setting in an historic town. The hotel itself has changed hands recently and is now under the Calcot umbrella. The restaurant has been refurbished, now country chic.the service is second to none. Look out for the bread, quite outstanding. I had the cheese souffle followed... More

I stayed at The Painswick with my fiancée last weekend for a surprise birthday treat and it did not disappoint!! It is a beautiful boutique hotel set in a stunning location. They really have thought of everything and make you feel so welcomed and relaxed. The staff could not have been any friendlier and there was always someone around to... More

Recent stay for one night, but would have liked to stay longer. Situated in the middle of a beautiful village, with an attractive garden and a small car park. It is quite tricky to find, so make sure you have clear directions before venturing down the narrow roads in the village. Very comfortable, with a lot of thought given to... More

I visited The Painswick last week with my partner, having visited its previous incarnation - Cotswold 88 - several years ago and enjoyed my visit. I have to say that it has got even better. The Painswick is a charming, small boutique hotel that is beautifully appointed and designed. Everything seems to have been thought of - from beautiful terraces... More

We stayed at The Painswick for 2 nights in June 2016 to celebrate a special birthday and wedding anniversary. This is a good hotel, however at £200+ per night, The Painswick sets high expectations, against which we felt they did not quite deliver. The bedrooms and their styling, (indeed the design throughout) is fantastic and spot on for the concept... More

Having tried unsuccessfully to book firstly with Calcot Manor and then Barnsley House we became aware of a new addition to the chain in The Painswick. It doesn't have the spa facilities of its sisters but has everything else that visitors to these hotels come to expect. Superb interior decor and fittings and those little attentions to detail which make... More

Excellent hotel with friendly attentive staff. Rooms comfortable, immaculate with good facilities. Food of a very good standard. The cot provided for babies is a travel cot and this is not really good enough. The hotel is dog friendly and this extends to allowing the dogs onto the front lawn. Unfortunately we witnessed many owners allowing their dogs to urinate... More
