From the moment we set foot in the door the service from all the staff was simply first class. We were a party of 14 there for my daughters wedding reception and the management and staff could not have done more to make what was already a great day even more memorable. From lunchtime arrival until a late finish they... More

Boutique hotel of outstanding quality and excellent restaurant. Recently refurbished with all mod cons whilst retaining traditional feel. Spacious ensuite rooms fitted to a very high standard with lovely views. Cosy lounge including a very effective wood burner. Interesting bar, although quite small. However plenty of seating elsewhere. Sat nav required to locate in the middle of Painswick which consists... More

The Painswick hotel is nothing short of spectacular. It is probably one of the most beautiful places we've ever been to. The hotel itself is recently renovated, and feels warm and welcoming. The hotel has thought of everything and even more than you can dream of! Located in the heart of the town with unbelievable views, it doesn't feel very... More

We visited for lunch. All courses were superbly cooked and presented. With a very interesting lunch menu - we had rabbit in red wine, sea trout on cassoulet (superb) and salmon soufflé all extremely tasty. Recently upgraded the hotel has breathtaking views over the Painswick valley. Hotel staff were very welcoming and the service was great.

The Painswick, which reopened in May 2016 after an extensive refurbishment under new owners, has become a hotel you can't forget. It's so perfectly created and the staff so fabulously attentive, it's a strong contender for best boutique hotel in the UK. Highly recommended.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful village, rightly known as 'the queen of the Cotswolds'. It's perfect in every way! The hotel is done with such quality, good taste, design and amenity with excellent staff without exception. My bedroom, Wimberley Mill was large and comfortable with sumptuous cotton bedding, tea making and coffee machine, a gorgeous big bathroom with top-quality... More

I stayed at The Painswick during my trip to the Cotswalds and had a great experience. I had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant on the ground floor. The chef was having difficulty perfecting my entree; so the waiter offered me a complimentary glass of wine. The room had a comfortable bed with soft linens; the bathroom had a heated... More

Today my husband and I had afternoon tea in the beautiful garden. Staff were friendly, prompt and ok interested. I chose the sweet option and my husband opted for the savoury version. My tea was a wonderful selection of cakes, scones and sandwiches. I would have preferred clotted cream rather than whipped cream, and more jam. Also the scones were... More

We have visited this newly refurbished hotel twice this Summer and I left it until after the second visit to review in case the earlier impressions were unfair. The renovations have been beautifully and sensitively done, this is a wonderfully comfortable country house hotel with a cleverly modern twist to the decor. So far so good - nothing to frighten... We've previously had cream tea at Barnsley House (part of the same group) and were very impressed, so had high hopes for the Painswick. Unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. Admittedly the location was spectacular but our overall experience here was terrible. The service was slow, slow, slow. We had to wait so long for our food that we had already... More
