We stayed here on a busy Saturday night in Sept and all was ok-ish. There wasn't a welcome. A man checked we had paid, handed us a key and told us how to get in after midnight. And that was it. The room and bed was clean even if the decor was a bit worn. The bathroom was tired and... More

We have visited the Falcon Inn for a meal twice in recent weeks. The first time the food was very good and the service was excellent. We looked forward to going back. Unfortunately, on our second visit, one of our meals was very poor. Although just a simple pork pie ploughman's the main ingredient, the pork pie', was dry and... More

We stayed here whilst walking the Cotswold Way. The rooms were freshly decorated and clean. We ate in the restaurant and the food was also good. The best part however was having a glass of wine in the afternoon, resting our sore feet, looking over the church and Yew tree grounds. Highly recommend.

Rooms noisy with hazardous bathrooms - nearly broke my neck trying to get out of a handle less bath (no shower) Dining. OK but disappointing. A quaint pub in a quaint place that's where the accolades stop

A very nice Restaurant, we had the fish pie and it was excellent. Very pleasant staff with an efficient service considering it was a Monday night the establishment was very busy. Had a walk around the village which was most interesting

Very good food at very reasonable prices. Staff are polite and plesant. Good quirky environment and food is served in a timely fashion. Recommend the baked camembert with garlic and picalilly. There was a good selection of food and lots of different spirits. Thoroughly enjoyed the Orchard Pig cider.

Better late than never - we were here in July. We were in a really beautiful annex to the main building so we had our own private room (with own toilets) very useful with the elderly folk that were in our birthday party. The service was second to none, the quality of the food was delicious/top (the food was paid... More

Located immediately opposite the famous churchyard in the centre of Painswick this inn is more of a restaurant than a pub or hotel. Space in this large old Cotswold stone building has been well laid out to provide a number of different dining areas and has a 18th/19th century style with a modern twist. There is a sensible menu that... More

We met our son and daughter in law here for lunch as a catch up. Situated in a real lovely village a few miles out of Stroud, we sat outside and had a drink because we were early, nicey but pricey. Two drinks cost £9 odd. They are dog friendly which is why we booked. We put ours in his... More

We visited the Falcon Hotel or Inn recently and we were very disappointed with the overall condition of the hotel and the quality of the food . The rooms are in need of major upgrading as they are old and the furniture is shabby and the TV is so small it is difficult to see properly and our bathroom was... More

Dear Sean T Many thanks for spending the time reviewing The Falcon, we have a rolling program of refurbishment where we do 2-3 rooms and bathrooms per year, which we continue to do, I don't know if you mentioned this to staff at the time of your stay, we may have been able to move you to another room. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Falcon Inn sits opposite a quintessential English village church with its famous 99 clipped yew trees sitting in its grounds. The Falcon was first opened as a coaching inn in the 16th century and carries out the aims of the coaching inn to this day, the transport to it is just a little bit different.
