We spent a couple of days in Painswick as a last minute trip. We hadn't researched any places to eat or booked anywhere. The Falcon Inn was a stone's throw from where we were staying so we didn't have far to walk. We managed to get a table straight away next to the fire and front window which faces St...

We were a party of five who had pre-booked for lunch. Staff were great as usual and we placed our orders. First course was very good, followed by the main course where two of us had ordered the Dover Sole. Sadly the Dover was dry and completely ruined. It had obviously been cooked well beforehand and had probably been left...

Staying in Painswick we had dinner here both nights; menu good, well priced wines, place buzzing. The first night the delay in delivering our ordered puddings was so long we gave up and left without. But the second night all was forgiven: the waitress apologised for the night before and we had a great time. Highly recommended

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on our way to Cheltenham and were lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked. Prompt service and delicious food. Good size portions, especially the children's meal. A really enjoyable Sunday roast.

Stayed with a group of friends. Really excellent Pub Grub on 2 evenings - pie recommended. Staff very pleasant indeed. However our room - at the top of the main building - was very cold. I phoned down and was reassured that the central heating would come on later in the day. When it didn't, the next person I spoke...

We really enjoyed our one night stay at The Falcon Inn and would love to return. In in a beautiful setting, opposite a picturesque church. Check-in was efficient and our luggage was taken to our room (we'd been walking all day and I think they felt sympathetic to us). A note reminds people that the property is old and has...

We stayed here on a busy Saturday night in Sept and all was ok-ish. There wasn't a welcome. A man checked we had paid, handed us a key and told us how to get in after midnight. And that was it. The room and bed was clean even if the decor was a bit worn. The bathroom was tired and...

We have visited the Falcon Inn for a meal twice in recent weeks. The first time the food was very good and the service was excellent. We looked forward to going back. Unfortunately, on our second visit, one of our meals was very poor. Although just a simple pork pie ploughman's the main ingredient, the pork pie', was dry and...

We stayed here whilst walking the Cotswold Way. The rooms were freshly decorated and clean. We ate in the restaurant and the food was also good. The best part however was having a glass of wine in the afternoon, resting our sore feet, looking over the church and Yew tree grounds. Highly recommend.

Rooms noisy with hazardous bathrooms - nearly broke my neck trying to get out of a handle less bath (no shower) Dining. OK but disappointing. A quaint pub in a quaint place that's where the accolades stop
