We dropped in here one day for a swift half and watched what others were eating. The following day we went in for lunch and had a delicious ploughmans which had both cheese and delicious ham. We only had one between us and there was huge amount. The waiter and the bar staff were really pleasant - a great experience... More

This lovely village has many eating places but we choose this as it served one of my husband's favourite beers, Timothy Tailors Landlord. We orded from a menu which had a good choice. My husband had a Plough Mans and I had a Bacon and Brie with Cranberry sandwich on brown bread. Both were excellent. The pub displayed an award... More

We stayed in the Hayloft room which very clean, very comfortable and large. The hotel is waking distance to the train station and has several good choices for restaurants. Breakfast, which was included, was good and cooked to order.

Only popped in because I spotted the blue plaque and Tolkien link. Apparently the Bell was the inspiration for the Prancing Pony in LOTR and as I liked the books....... We sat in the 'Tolkien' corner, had a snoop at the memorabilia and enjoyed a couple of the beers, served by friendly staff, in what was a very nice looking... More

The Inn is located on the main street near the Mereton In Marsh train station, the only town where the train from London stops in the Cotswolds. The price (which was reasonable to begin with) also included a nice breakfast. When we arrived, the manager even brought fresh milk for our tea. The only down side is that the heater... More

The Bell Inn is easy to find in the High Street of Moreton in Marsh. A set back is the parking. None dedicated and the Main Street parking is minimal. The hotel has a warm, local feel and the history will blow you away. The rooms are surprisingly big, warm and quiet. The modern comforts such as wifi are free.... More

Stayed at the bell inn. Very nicely spacious rooms, lots of lovely amenities. However VERY noisy. There was an extractor fan under our room from 8am - 9am, it felt like we were in a washing machine. Even though we wanted a lie in it was impossible. Night 2 I bought some super ear plugs, even those didn't help! Stay... More

I can't fault it. The staff were friendly the food was very good and value for money. The accommodation was of a very high standard and the area was very clean. There were lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs in the town so plenty of choice. Also it's easy to get to other parts of the Cotswolds by car. Nothing... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Considered by many to be Tolkeins inspiration for the "Prancing Pony" in Lord of the rings, the Bell Inn is a fine example of a traditional coaching Inn set in the historic Cotswolds. Having been taken over in June 2015, the pub and guest rooms are in safe hands and offer great service and quality accommodation. The pub offers meals a great selection of food, including lunches and evening meals which compliment the wide range of drinks including a selection of real ales. On a sunny day why not sit in the beer garden and soak up the sunshine in peaceful surroundings. ... more   less
