I've absolutely no idea if the food here is good, it may well be, we just didn't want to hang around here long enough to find out after horrible welcome we received when hoping to get Sunday Lunch on the weekend before the second lockdown was due. We arrived in the pub and a sign told us to sit anywhere, so we took the first table available, soon to realise that it was right near the door and not very comfortable, so we walked into the second room and asked at the bar where we could sit. The broody blonde barmaid had obviously had enough and told us we could sit in the front 2 rooms, having vacated one of the rooms and not knowing if the room we was in was one of the rooms we could sit in, I asked the question is this one of the rooms, she said in the most scathing of manner "yes I just said sit in any of the rooms" then gave me a dead scare as if to challenge our choice. Had she made it clear at all we would gave stayed, but she tried to humiliate us as if we were thick, so we left, leaving the till at least £70 light as there was no way we would have stayed after such a disgusting display of poor customer service.

Stayed one night late October. Hotel felt very Covid safe and staff worked very hard to ensure everyone was well protected. Super evening meal in the restaurant. Have stayed here on quite a few occasions and will definitely be back!

Room was fine, clean and comfortable. Breakfast staff excellent and breakfast good too. My one gripe is that being in the ground floor it took a long time for the hot water to come through but once it did it was piping hot!

Excellent lunch in this busy find, staff coping admirably with an influx of staycation walkers getting out of the rain into a cosy friendly pub. We hadn’t booked and had to wait and appreciate a kitchen and bar can’t serve everybody all at once. Good hygiene and COVID avoidance exercised.
