Well the pub/hotel looks lovely on the outside and in the bar/restaurant area but the rooms are a lot to be desired. They were shocking carpet very grubby with stains on it curtains hanging off and the "en suite" was about 5ftx2ft my hubby couldn't get in the shower it was too small and the loo didn't flush right .The beds... As a hotel the Golden Cross Inn is basic, however it is very excellent value for money and well situation in the town. We had an apartment style room between four of us and it was comfortable and clean. Difficult to find fault with the accommodation, location or the staff.

Recently stayed at the golden cross Inn and was impressed. The only negative thing was the Internet was not very good. I could not connect at all to the wifi during my stay. Other than that I would recommend this inn to anyone visiting Cirencester.

We thought we would try somewhere different for Sunday lunch to our usual haunts - The drinks and the Sunday roast was more than we would normally pay but did not mind thinking it was going to be a fantastic meal. We were so disappointed - The roast beef was so tough we had to keep removing it from our... More

Stayed here with the family. The staff were really helpful and we loved our room. Very clean and comfortable. A nice english pub with good food. An all round great experience. Excellent central location.

We went for lunch on Saturday and it was quite busy but we founds seats without too much bother. The menu is quite varied with a good range from light to more substantial. Check the board for the days specials. There is a good range of beers on tap so we had an enjoyable meal. The place is dog friendly... More

Came across this pub on a visit to Cirenchester. The lady that seated us was very welcoming and great prompt service. The menu was traditional pub fare, they use the meats from the butchers next door. I had steak frites, which was cooked to perfection with lovely fresh salad accompaniment. My husband had steak sandwich and son fish fingers from... More

Went here for family sunday lunch. 6 of us and all had a different meat. Cooked to perfection. Genuinely one of the best Sunday lunch I've ever eaten. Great beer, dog friendly. Super staff. Lovely time and Franklin the dog was super friendly.

Friendly welcome, but I never saw a member of staff again throughout the two day stay - the pub was closed, and although I was given a key to access my room via an alleyway I had no emergency contact number, so it's just as well there was no emergency. Room wasn't cleaned during my stay and I made my... More

Visited this place whilst away in Cirencester and it was fully of puppies and dogs - they are very dog friendly. The beer was good and service quick. The place is a great place to hangout after spending the day shopping. I also think locals visit which is always a good thing.

Just a short stroll from the town's historic market place, hidden up a picturesque mediaeval backstreet, you'll find The Golden Cross Inn.This early-18th Century coaching inn offers a warm welcome to all, from those seeking a thirst quenching pint of real ale to discerning diners looking for gourmet British cuisine, and of course to weary travellers looking for a bed for the night. While the building itself dates from the mid-17th Century, landlord Mark Lindesay and his dedicated team have recently transformed the pub into a welcoming hostelry offering contemporary standards of service, great food, good company and comfortable, well-equipped bedrooms, suites and apartments. The Golden Cross Inn offers the perfect combination of contemporary sophistication and traditional charm with its exposed beams, classic pub ambiance in its snug bar, combined with a light, airy dining area, all tended by friendly and attentive staff. ... more   less
