What a strange Hotel, beautiful from the outside , Dire on the inside. Two positives were the service at breakfast and in the brasserie, however the food was very average. The Cotswold breakfast is half the size you would expect from a full English tiny fatty bacon, warm yogurt, maybe because the corridors and rooms are so dark they can’t find the fridge. The rooms are freezing cold, we were moved our first night as the room no radiators and it was -5 outside. The room we were moved to had a plug in radiator and was warm, but the air was just so dry we couldn’t sleep at night. Two nights in this hotel felt like a week and one can only hope somebody recognises the lovely location and invests in it. Make it like Dormy House in Broadway and I would be a regular as I stay in Cheltenham every 4-6 weeks. To top it all, we came out of the main building to walk to our room Friday morning and the door to Woodland area and pool was covered in decorators materials, paint, ladders total area covered at least 3 metres. Whatever happened to trying to be discreet when doing routine maintenance, one can only blame the management. Cheltenham deserves better than this, I rated it two purely for location, the hotel itself I rate as 1.…
We booked 2 nights at the Ellenborough to celebrate my birthday. I am very impressed - the staff are friendly and focused on delivering a great customer service. We booked 2 spa treatments - a special shout to Lana, an expert massage therapist. She asked about how much pressure to use, and kneaded and pressed and got rid of the knots and tension. Best massage I have ever had. Afternoon tea - someone comes to stoke the fire, and deliver mouthwatering scones and cakes, and an impressive selection of loose leaf tea. The outdoor pool, kept to a warm 30 C, just ask them to remove the covers, and we were swimming very comfortably in the middle of January! All in all, great stay, we’ll be back!
Ellenborough Park is in a beautiful setting with stunning views of the area. We visited the hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we couldn’t have wished for more luxurious hotel, as you walk in you are welcomed by a roaring fire. Then we went to our stunning room, which has just be refitted with fine fixtures and a stunning bathroom. The room had all the beautiful comforts you’d expect in a hotel such as the this. The hotel has a spa and pool, the pool was a warm 30 degrees even at 8am on a Sunday morning. The breakfast is had in the stunning restaurant, the choice is immense and I can personally recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. We did have a few niggles with our stay but the wonderful weekend manager Veronica helped us out with these, she is a credit to the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will be back ❤️…
I stayed with my partner over New Year. It was £1000 each for 2 nights including an evening meal, a Gala Dinner and an afternoon tea. The Great Hall was very nice with an open fire however the afternoon tea was poor. No sandwiches and flasks with hot water and tea bags, no teapot. The Tattinger Champagne was nice but when asking for a second glass we were given something different maybe Prosecco? The evening meal was nice in the restaurant but the food only average standard. On New Years Eve we were told we couldn’t go in the Great Hall until 7.30pm (our meal was booked at 8) We were told to wait in the bar area which was cold and uninviting. At 8pm we were shown to our table but it wasn’t in the main restaurant but in tne area near to the bar. It was cold and no atmosphere, and to make it worse a large party turned up with 3 babies in highchairs! This completely spoilt it for us, it was not suitable for young children, and seemed more like Butlins than a 5 star hotel. We complained to the Manager Kevin, although he was a nice chap he did nothing and said it was a child friendly hotel. I said usually they have to be over 12 and if I was told this we wouldn’t have booked. The party room was in a different room. Again very cold and there was a baby in a pram in there. It did warm up later and we enjoyed the dancing and the fireworks, but we were dressed up ready for a high end occasion. This it certainly was not. The room was nice and bed very comfortable but we wouldn’t stay again due to them letting babies in the restaurant. Im surprised any parent would keep there young child up till midnight and take them to that sort of venue. It’s very selfish. I blame the hotel though as you can put rules in place to stop this happening. Also I lost an earring. Kevin said he would ask housekeeping but I didn’t get a call back. A curtesy call with a yes or no would have been nice. Very disappointing.…
My daughters’ and I went on a spa package with use of the facilities, a facial and back massage and lunch. All were excellent and fantastic value for money. A really locked experience. My therapist, Lana was very knowledgeable and put me at ease. I will definitely return.
This hotel has a lot going for it: location, some friendly staff, lovely walks, good breakfasts. However on both our visits the hotel was extremely cold. Radiators we’re not on - with silly reasons why not: visitors said it was too hot the previous week, engineer hasn’t turned up. Fire in big room was fed by offcuts of wood as someone had locked the storeroom and gone off with the only key. We ate dinner in our coats. Poor lighting meant we and others used phones to read menus. Food was good, but although the description included vegetables, this consisted of one Brussels sprout cut in two and a teaspoon of potato under the meat. Preferably include vegetable portions, or if you must (and this I think is a rip off) ensure people know to order sides. Rooms were not totally clean. Things did not work properly - tv was piped into bathroom and could not be switched off, lightbulbs weren’t working. The spa is very small and booking is essential but not straightforward. Lots of apologies but really this is not acceptable in a 5star establishment.…
Ok ,I'm not a fan of writing these but I feel like the reviews here aren't honest, firstly I'm a well travelled spa user and this is not or should be classified as a spa, it's a hotel with an outdoor pool (heated but very unkept (leaves everywhere )and a room with a jacuzzi and steam and sauna (max 3 ppl ) if I had paid for a Luxury spa I'd have been very disappointed. The main building is very grand and beautiful, staff are t very helpful and young , whole building was cold and did ask for the heating a couple of times and informed they had blankets if need so 😩. The room was beautiful and had a luxurious feel ,shower very good. Breakfast good . Attention to detail missing , lots of tables needed cleaning down and left , glasses outside room left for a whole day bits on the carpet not picked up extra . Food for the evening meal was terrible, just basic pub food and high prices. No strawberries for my non alcoholic cocktail and nothing offered in place ,just not a 5* experience.sorry . Shall not return…
Had a fantastic time. Planned as part of my proposal and I cannot speak highly enough of Veronika (customer relations manager) she took as much of the pressure and nerves away as possible but taking care of my partner and arranging the snug for me. Wether is was there timing of the champagne or helping to arrange the room she couldnt do enough for me. The proposal went perfectly so massive thanks to Veronika. The room was stunning the facilities are great. The shower had a slight malfunction and breakfast service was a little slow but they still took care of us and kept us informed but other then that the stay was perfect.
Lovely hotel. Super friendly and very helpful staff - excellent service. Very clean rooms. Food very good. Our little dogs also had a lovely time - everyone couldn’t have been nicer to them - they loved the treats👍 We will be back.
This was our very first visit to Ellenborough Park but it certainly won’t be our last! From the moment we drove through the wonderful grounds and spotted the most beautiful building all lit up against the darkening sky we knew we’d found somewhere very special. Immediately we got out of the car we were met by a young lady with the brightest smile to greet us and help us with our luggage. The lady on Reception so friendly and welcoming too. Then we were taken to our room and the dream just continued on. It was breathtaking and the bathroom, well, I could quite happily have slept in there! Then Dinner when we met Yovi the Maitre De. She was impeccable in both her service style and knowledge of the Menu. The food was simply delicious. We were also helped by a young man from the Bar who again was full of smiles, nothing is too much trouble at the Ellenborough Park. We are booking to return in January 2023. We can feel lots of visits will be on the cards! Thank you to everyone for making our stay so PERFECT T!…
