Stayed here as they welcome dogs and had a fabulous time. Staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, nothing was to much trouble. Accommodation is quirky but more than adequate. We chose to have dinner in the pub as Our dog Ernie was welcome and the food was great. Ernie was thoroughly spoils by the staff with dog treats...

This is one of the cheaper places to stay in Rye. That said, it still offers a good standard of comfort. The building itself is an old one, so there are limits to what can be done. To over-modernise it would be wrong as it would destroy the character of the building. The style of the rooms is therefore suited...

Cosy dining area with roaring log fire ! Just right for a cold January evening. Started off with beer before meal (fair choice of draft brews) followed by excellent beef stew. Opted for the House Red at top of wine list, which was OK, but would have liked to have seen more choice at around the £15 mark. Might try...

My husband and I have visited this pub a few times, with friends when we stayed in a cottage in Rye for a weekend and again more recently in January when we booked a night in Rye and stayed at the Standard Inn, The pub is very centrally located and welcoming with a roaring fire and quirky retro furniture. It's...

We stayed here for two nights for my husbands birthday. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely young girl who was very friendly.it was her first day so she asked the (I presume) to show her how to check people in. There wasn't a hello or any acknowledgement from her to us. The young staff are all very nice...

Whilst staying in Rye, 6 of us visited the Ship Inn, which we remembered as a nice traditional pub. What a disappointment. A local consortium of owners had turned it into a classic trap for trippers. Tables for family lunches now took up all the space. The screams of young children drowned all conversation. The food was terrible. We suffered...

We stayed in room 9 at the top of the pub/hotel. The room was clean and cosy. We dined in the pub and had a very good meal served by friendly staff and sat next to the roaring fire. A very welcome sight on a cold January night. The owner was friendly and welcoming. In the morning the breakfast was...

Lovely welcoming staff but food does not match up! Very limited menu which is fine if well executed. Minestrone soup is a medley of leftover veg with stock and a sprig of thyme. No robust Flavours, beans, pasta or things you would expect from a traditional Italian soup. Bread was nice but overall not worth an £8 price tag! not all your...

A great deal of effort has gone into making this a "quirky" place, typified by the cryptic information sheet in the bedroom. A little too much in fact, as it all seemed rather forced, especially when it did not match the rather surly and uninterested woman who checked us in, nor the general staff attitude which was less than engaging....
