What a great find. Full of character and such a warm welcome, dog friendly! nothing was too much trouble. Local produce used for the breakfast which was one of the best we have ever had ! . Can highly recommend this wonderful place. Will definitely be back. They do winter breaks.

Of course, Rye is special, and Mermaid St is the most special street in the town, and Jeakes House is the most special place to stay. It has the charm of age (which does mean steep and narrow stairs - be warned) and a wonderful welcome from Jenny & Richard. Breakfast is a highlight - you could stay a week...

Stayed in Jeake's House as attending a wedding in Rye and the wedding venue could not accommodate us. Well, what a good job they couldn't. It has so much olde worlde charm and character but with all mod cons. Booked a standard double room and the Conrad Aiken Suite. Could not fault either. The stairs to reach these rooms on...

Pleasant rooms, good breakfast and gracious hosts. Quiet and comfortable furniture. Located quite centrally so can walk most places. The honor system bar is a nice touch. We were traveling with friends and a serious leak developed in their room due to a plugged drainpipe and they were not charged, demonstrating a desire to provide good service.

It's very hard to exaggerate the charm and appeal of this place; the building dates back about 400 years and has stacks of character, situated on the very picturesque Mermaid Street close to the centre of Rye. The hosts are very welcoming and the breakfast absolutely delicious (try the Rye rarebit). I can't wait to go back.

Stunning location - warmest welcome - cool, quiet room for an excellent night's sleep followed by a thoroughly well turned out English breakfast using the leanest bacon and excellent pork sausages. Best accomodation experience ever for me.

We stayed 2 nights in this lovely hotel in Rye in the Elizabeth Fry room and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The hotel is charming, very individual and the hospitality excellent. Breakfasts are delicious. Staying here is special, if only all hotels were as caring of their guests.

We spent two nights recently in the Elizabeth Fry room at Jeakes House, which we chose after reading all the rave reviews on Tripadvisor. I have to say the place exceeded our expectations. The extremely comfortable four poster bed was an experience, and the room was beautifully furnished and provided with everything you could want. The bathroom was bang up...
