If you fancy escaping London for a night or two, Rye is the perfect location and less than 2 hours drive away!. The George was a delight from the minute we crossed the threshold. Service as excellent, the room fabulous, the food delicious and the decor sublime. The Shop Next Door only added to the trip where we purchased our... More

...is a must! The decor is of the moment and the bathroom is amazing looking - although I wouldn't actually want to have a bath in the rather uncomfortable copper bath and the water didn't drain away quickly enough in the shower, so we were in danger of causing a flood and had to turn the water off every 2... Mix Balthazar NY with the Electric Brasserie, add in some Cosmopolitan Urban Eclectic & Local atmosphere and Voila! This is not a Pub with Rooms above, more, charming Rooms with a Brasserie & Bar below. Whoever steers this Ship does it well with craft, guile, subtlety and Class and it all feels about right. Unobtrusive but attentive Service mainly by... More

Husband and I have just celebrated a very special 45th anniversary with three glorious days at The George in Rye - and what a delight! An interesting old coaching inn, tastefully modernised, but losing none of its charm. And (unlike the previous reviewer) we thought the service from every member of the young international staff was superb, just striking the... More

Really liked it overall. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were helpful. Location was perfect. Dinner was very good quality. Beds were very comfortable. But...... Our room was small (room 4). We were expecting it to be small from reading previous reviews and the bedroom size was fine. However the bathroom was the smallest possible size and getting under the shower was... More

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 nights stay and our overall experience was just below what we expected. Reception staff were excellent - friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Our room was perfect with even a small seating area outside patio doors - a pleasant surprise for a town centre hotel. Negatives were our the eating/dining experiences. Breakfast... More

My partner & I decided on a short trip to Rye. We booked The George and we were not disappointed. The staff were lovely, polite, attentive and very helpful. The room was excellent and the attention to detail was noticeable. It was clean and very tastefully decorated throughout. What also struck me, the waiting staff were wearing casual clothes, jean,... My brother moved to Rye last year and I have since visited the town a couple of times and eaten at The George twice. My brother and his wife eat here regularly and have always praised the food very highly. I can honestly say their praise is worthy - lovely ambience, excellent staff and service and the food is amazing... More

On a last minute break in Rye and happened upon this restaurant, also a hotel/pub. Cannot praise too highly the food, ambience and staff. Lobster starter excellent, lemon sole (locally caught) just wow, and the peach with cinnamon ice cream to die for. The wait staff were all excellent, filleted the fish for us at the table, and attentive but... More

One of the best and most comfortable rooms I have ever experienced. Room was beautiful I loved the decor and the ensuite bathroom was very nice too. The room had all the comforts to relax and have a great night sleep including a series of interesting books collection! We loved having our breakfast served in the room which meant that... More
