This was once a charming place, that I recommended - and I have seen its development over the last 30 years. It saddens me to say that it has reached the end of the road. The room was probably the dirtiest I have ever slept in. Someone had been smoking in it for some time and the landlady just said... More

I booked one of my work colleagues into this hotel and was informed it was the worst place he had ever stayed. The room smelt of toilet waste and the bathroom was disgusting. I would avoid this hotel. Having not been to this area before I did try and research this on trip advisor and some reviews had been more... More

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Unclean, cold shower, broken bed. The bar only had one beer on tap and they didn't even have a bottle of still water. This place should be closed down. Stay here and expect to get bitten at night. I DID.

Had an hour to kill whilst waiting for my wife so fancied a pint and a quick bite to eat. Only really wanted a sandwich. Walking into the bar was like like stepping back in time into an episode of 'Minder'. Dirty carpets, everything was brown and I could swear the whole place had that 70's tv haze to it.... More

How this hotel passed hygiene and fire checks god knows. I don't like posting bad reviews but I feel that others have to be warned about this public house / hotel. The bar room is thick with dust and the carpets are dirty. When looking for the toilet I walked past the open kitchen door. I was shocked by the... More

Having stayed in this hotel, I can say that this hotel it self is crying out for a makeover. I'm sure enough beers sell in the bar to buy new bed linen and replace the ghastly interiors. Nice approachable staff, but times have changed, and we are in a society that expects more bang for their buck

My god. When i think of English cuisine and service in the 1980s this place comes to the forefront. Basil Fawlty would laugh even at the crappy old interior, smelly carpets, hobo locals sleeping at the bar and damp old toilets that reminded me of scenes from the movie 'The Shining'. Luckily we didn't stay here, but as I had... More

I went to this pub as it look quant form the outside and there were not too many people in it. However, I would never go there again, largely because the toilets were so disgusting. No sign posts to get you there and maybe that's is a good idea. The steps on the way down to the toilets were full... More

Popped in for a drink whilst visiting Lewes as is such a great location and was less busy than other pubs. There is a reason for this. It's the most disgusting and filthy loo I have ever been in anywhere in the world. I can't believe it's allowed to operate you certainly wouldn't eat in there. Vile !

When looking online they show a wonderful set of rooms making people believe it is really deserving of it's name. Crown in a place for royalty. Wrong. On arrival the staff where friendly and showed me to my room. The room was small and decorated horribly with raised paint. Which would be fine however seems to be used as a... More
