Myself and partner stayed here on Saturday night, as we were visiting a local vineyard. Peter Mann, (The owner) was very friendly, arranged a Sea view double room for us on top floor and explained about parking. (We left our car at the vineyard and taxied to/from St. Leonards). "The Grand" has little kerb appeal when you arrive and needs... More

There are a lot of bad reviews of this hotel and although I understand some of these are from a few years ago before some re-decoration (or whatever) it still is really a place to avoid. It was generally clean and the breakfast was OK but the place is desperately dull and unattractive. The owner is a rather odd fellow... More

Myself and my boyfriend booked in for the bank holiday weekend to visit his family, and I'm glad we stayed here. The price was decent for 3 nights and breakfast. The owner was so welcoming and accommodating. The pair of us were arriving quite late after check in but once we called ahead he was fine with this and stayed... More

We stayed for 1 night as we were going to an event at the Azure and this hotel was the perfect location as was just across the road. However we payed £90 for a room(it was bank holiday weekend) which was very basic and quite shabby, so really poor value for money. Room was clean but very small and bed... More

Very reasonable hotel for price. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Fairly basic looking in public areas, but contrary to other reviews the owner is very pleasant, friendly and I thought old-fashioned in a good way. His assistant from France also very friendly and professional. Breakfast nicely cooked and plenty of it. Nice breakfast room and plants. Give this... More

We booked this hotel at a very last minute as family ill health and we were travelling down from Yorkshire so were just looking for somewhere to stay near the hospital. You could tell that the whole hotel had recently has quite a lot of renovation in that there were new carpets and the slight smell of paint. If you... More

It was the only place with vacancies when we found ourselves stuck after a hotel mix-up. The owner, though very chatty is a warm change from the usual continental efficiency that heralds the inevitable generic hotel experience. A check-in for the most tolerant, but it's very friendly. The room renovations are almost complete and we were given a wonderful sea... More

I wish I had known before.. The owner is very odd.. the whole place is dirty and creepy and should be... More

This building is old and has its own quirks, wonky stair cases, gaps between floor boards ect. Our experience included a very nice welcome and clean functioning room with a great view. It doesn't matter that the room numbers aren't in order as you only need to know where your room is. I also noticed a book case full of... More

Booked hotel through a comparison site. Sounded grand but wasn't. I think the previous two reviewers had a similar experience to us. We actually took the room at the top of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the welcome friendly, but all in all, it wasn't the best of hotels. If you want somewhere to sleep, with little by... More
