I booked this hotel for 2 nights stay in Brighton for my mum and dad for their 25th wedding anniversary. A few days before they were due to arrive, I saw quite a lot of negative reviews and pictures on trip advisor, this caused extreme concern because we had spent £250 for the 2 nights stay for my mum and... Looked at plenty of properties before booking the New Steine and for the money this four star hotel seemed spot on. We arrived early and staff were happy to let us buy a parking ticket and check in later. On closer inspection when we were shown to our room it didn't appear to be the four star we were expecting.... The hotel was very modern and appealing to the eye. Our room was at the front of the house and was very nice. Although it did say we had a sea view (which we did) it was a very partial sea view - not that we were bothered by this but others may be. We decided we wanted a later... More

One night stay in the upgraded large downstairs room, superb decor in Union Jack colours with a supersize bed. Tea/coffee facilities in room plus a super breakfast. On the minus side the bathroom was small with only a shower and no blackout curtains so the street light shone into the room as the curtains did not cover all of the... More

My room was tiny- I could barely stand up and there was no room for my suitcase. My personal bathroom and toilet were halfway down the stairs which was inconvenient, and definitely did not justify the price I paid. At breakfast the orange in the fruit bowl was mouldy and nobody had bothered to remove it. The milk had separated... More

We stayed for 3 nights. Check in was 2pm but we had to wait till 2.30pm before the room was ready. The room was ridiculously small for a double. It had an en suite which had just enough room to turn around in. The shower cubicle needed ripping out it was so tired. The bed was so hard I have... More

Our room was clean, but very small and cramped. Decor is dated, with a broken mirror! But breakfast was good, although again, a little cramped. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking difficult but position of hotel is brilliant

We stayed in a family room. We asked for three separate beds but agreed to managed with one double and one single bed the room was clean but not very spacious bathroom was very tiny, one can not move in it without touching walls... Not worth the money...

Dear Monika A, Thank you for your recent visit and for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. Whilst the majority of our family rooms have separate bed facilities, unfortunately this is subject to availability and allocated on a first come first served basis. It is always advisable to contact the hotel as soon as possible to avoid... More

Nothing special, but absolutely positive stay at this small and nice hotel. Located just a few meters from the sea, and just some minute to the lanes. Bathroom quiet small ... Some part of the hotel/rooms could be renovated a bit, but all over a good location.

We have stayed in a number of hotels in Brighton, we like this one the best and have stayed several times. Staff are really friendly and if you ask them for any help or support they are quick to respond even if it is late at night. The bed is comfortable and the location is perfect for visits to Brighton.... More
